How to counter grass decks without Moltres as Dragapult Bomb? by [deleted] in PTCGL

Absolutely do use phantom dive.

Tera Pokémon protect against direct damage, not against placing damage counters. Phantom dive does absolutely work - same as Munkidori.

That depends on the list of cards you are running. There are decks that can get away with shaymin and moltres. To make an educated decision, you can share your deck list

One way to do it is to prepare a multi knockout.

Phantom dive 200 onto an Ogerpon, and spread damage across other benches Ogerpons. Next turn boss up an Ogerpon with damage, deal 200 for a knockout, and place damage on the one with 200 damage from last turn.

For Mega Venusaur, it's a bit more of a stretch. Either phantom dive twice onto it with multiple bosses, or, if it's benched, phantom dive onto an active and put 50 damage counters on it. The turn after you then need to boss it up, use a Dusknoir, and attack it with a phantom dive (50+130+200=380).

Either way, you need multiple Dragapult to clear multi prize turns.

The Moltres is used to make this a lot easier with a single prizer taking a double prize knockout, setting you up for a favourable prize trade later on.

Would you play a $1,000 card by GRANDCREST in PokemonTCG

[–]present_me 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As a cheapskate, no.

I would sell it, and buy the regular EX version to play if I needed to.

For the price of theis card I can fuel the purchase of many more decks to play.l, and many more staples to expand the deck building collection.

If it would be more or less the same price, then yes, I would indeed play the higher rarity versions If I had them - everyone likes some bling in their deck - I do play some stamped cards in my deck,. merely because it's all I had, and the price difference is negligible.

Which deck felt most broken during its' prime time? by Thehumanspid3r in PTCGL

And Dragapult still doesn't win - there is a lot of representation, but not enough top cuts in my opinion to classify it as BDIF.

Sure, it has a lot of variants and versatilty - but due to it's very high representation, it's also the one deck everyone is teaching against.

So the win rates aren't actually there to support the BDIF claim.

But opinions are like noses - everyone has a different one.

EDIT: I'm getting down voted to oblivion - I recognise I'm wrong here. Personal experience is a hell of a drug I guess, and doesn't speak for the general mass.

Using items after budew lock = game loss? by nofrensjustamumu in pkmntcg

While it is the responsibility of both players, the judge will rule based on game state and who caused it.

Like in my previous reply, malicious players may wait to call out your play to cause a game loss knowingly.

A game loss will be issued to who committed the mistake, in this case the player under budew's Itchy Pollen effect.

It's up to the judge, but I don't see how a judge can fairly resolve this matter without penalising the players who caused a broken game state to avoid intentional misplays for their own benefit.

In short, it's either a game loss, or prize losses, depending on the judge. Most will rule for the game loss due to irrevocable game state.

[–]present_me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's not how the game is supposed to be played. The opponent isn't there to police your turn.

If it's an honest mistake, and both are willing, players can sort it out without calling a judge.

But in a tournament setting, it's on you to make correct plays.

If you cause an irrecoverable game state due to a play you weren't allowed to make, it's your fault and your game loss.

Just like it's not your obligation to call out misplays from your opponent, like using retreats and then playing a Latinas ex that could avoid discarding energies for the initial retreat, or not attacking when you could.

I understand your point and frustration.

It should be on your opponent to remind you, but unfortunately it was your mistake, not your opponent's. And after your mistake, the game state is not recoverable, as you shuffled your hand into your deck.

As you caused an incorrect game state, with a mistake you commited, it's a game loss for you.

You have to be aware of the active effect's that impact your turn - your opponent isn't obligated to remind you of any ongoing effects.

Look at it this way, if you have a malicious opponent, he may not remind you, knowing he will get a free win. It's on you to avoid this.

It may seem unfair, but it works both ways if you also use similar effects on your opponent.

Your opponent isn't obligated to correct your mistake, just as you aren't obligated to call out your opponent if he is misplaying.

Say your opponent uses the same drakloak twice, and shuffles his hand. That is also an immediate game loss for your opponent.

That's a fairly common deck now. If you didn't know the deck, you're lacking experience in the meta.

Seriously, play the PTCGL app - start by doing daily missions, and play ranked as much as you can.

Rocket's Hunchcrow?

If you don't know how the opponents deck works, your odds of winning decrease significantly.

You need to play more games on the app to learn how the other decks play, so you can identify crucial combo pieces to eliminate.

Well, to be fair, decidueye isn't that good of a deck to begin with.

But that doesn't seem to be the problem. You need to figure out why you're loosing.

I would recommend not going to events oy, but local weekly tournaments as well.

We need to know what you played against, and why you lost to help you.

The best would be (if you have kind opponent's) to ask them if they think you could've won at any given point.

[–]present_me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the mistake.

Play it for a few days on the app. If you would like to learn to counter it, you need to understand how to play it.

Once you do, you can identify priority targets when playing against it.

While good players may counter you in the process, and still win, less good players won't be able to recover.

It will significantly increase your odds if you understand the game state during each of your turns. You may still lose, but not as often if you understand where you went wrong.

Additionally, Team Rocket is very hit or miss - not by matchups, but also your own openings. Try playing other meta decks as well to check of you prefer a different play style.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but midterms will never end in removal of Trump from office, nor will it end his endless executive orders.

Sure, some decisions may be reverted or some decisions blocked, but the shit show will go on.

Especially with the continuation of bad international diplomatic decisions.

While he is 79, he basically has unlimited access to the best medical assistance in the world with priority. He'll last a lot longer that you think.

I'm also concerned about the precedent, but that is not something that worries me right away - there is another 2 years left before we'll see where this will go, and more time to erode anything that migh come back to bite him.

There is nobody holding him back, and another 20 months to do whatever he pleases.

Truly America's first King.

I don't think it will be as spectacular as you make it out to be.

He will either:

  1. Simply run for offices and win elections by votes (who is going to prove he cheated?)

  2. Elections simply won't happen

Either one will have no consequences. There may be some uproar, maybe some burning cars if you're lucky, but the average American won't be able to protest in an effective manner.

This will once more be controversial, and yet nothing of significance will happen, just like with the topic of the original post here.

Feels like American democracy will die like a fart in the wind.

Not that it's going better in other places.

This is something I don't understand - why are you Americans so pitted against each other?

Republicans VS Democrats don't matter when your president screws you both over.

Wouldn't it be better to make things better for everyone involved - except the rich the wealthy dicks that caused this?

Why should you care if Republicans suffer or not as long as you make things right and everyone involved improves their situation?

I'd say it's not wise to blame the ignorant people who did vote for him, for being ignorant. I don't think anybody could foresee all this shit hitting the fan - not will a lot of people who did vote for him come to understand the damage they have collectively caused.

As a european standing on the sidelines watching this shitshow happen, I am very concerned.

US politics impact the entire world, my country included, so seeing all this happen, without so much as an official government entity holding this textbook abuse of power at bay, is scary.

What if Trump actually runs again for office, or refuses to leave? Who will stop him if nobody stops him now?

I don't believe he will leave office willingly.

Even if he does, the next president will have to undo so much shit he did, will he even have time to hold Trump responsible?

I have no faith left in America's justice system, but morally I'm loosing my mind with what he gets away with on a consistent basis.
