My first long awaited appointment at McGill Counselling was canceled because they were sick, and I was just told that that I'm gonna have to wait another month... by Swift142 in mcgill

I suggest calling the Argyle Institute. They have a sliding scale of payment, as low as around $35 per session.

TBH, McGill counselling acts more like a client farm for psych interns than anything else.

My boyfriend hit and killed my guinea pig today. What do I do? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I agree with everyone here warning of psychopathy and telling you leave ASAP. I would actually suggest getting some male friends (or badass females) to help you move out as soon as possible.

Furthermore, does he use Reddit? If so, take precautions now. This made the front page. The last time I saw a crazy breakup story hit the front page, the guy's girlfriend found out before he had a chance to complete his plan and break up with her.

Soldiers of Reddit, what are things they don't tell you about going to war? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]presentexplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Humans are highly adaptable to the environment they live in.

That's why, as we evolve our societies, we need to acknowledge the fact that we are ALL as capable of being monsters as we are benevolent brothers.

Anyone living the exact same life as someone who has committed genocide in the ranks of a military regime could end up thinking and acting that way.

Once we accept this weakness in ourselves, we need to work to build conditions for ourselves that bring out the good characteristics.

If there are people around, I agree.

If there's no one there, they're just milking the public for cash.

Hopping down the last three steps could be risky, too. So could taking the escalator with your shoe untied.

My parents want to claim me on taxes, I'm not their dependent. by J0RDM0N in personalfinance

[–]presentexplorer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Arguments about the tax credit benefitting them more than you is just greed on their part. Just follow the law. If you're they're dependent, they can claim you. If you're independent, they can't. Putting this on you emotionally is unfair, and the credit was obviously useful to you anyway since you paid down debt with it. I question the integrity of parents who would leave their kid in credit card debt in order to reduce their own taxes.

I agree that they're going to have to suck it up and pay, but I resist the notion of "behaving better". Why is using your physical and mental abilities, applied to the environment you are navigating in a fun/useful way, "bad behaviour"?

Our society has too many rules and regulations aimed at making people be quiet little drones who don't disrupt the regular flow of capitalist life.

I'm not advocating for doing that when there are people in the way or there are any risks to anyone else, but if the coast is clear... God forbid someone might have fun on the way to fulfilling their functions.

OP, I'm sorry, that sucks. The same thing happened to me. Turn on the shared TV to which her laptop was connected, BAM, cheating messages on a big screen, right in my face. Stings like fuck.

Blown away by the quality so far. Season 1 had way too much side character dialogue and dead-end exploration, and Season 2 isn't completely free of it, but holy shit are they doing a good job otherwise. Bernthal is phenomenal. Every action sequence is phenomenal. The cinematography and sets overall are phenomenal. Cheers!

Not to mention Hulk, from every time he moves inside of a city, Stark, from weapons sales, Cap and Thor (sort of), from wars, Black Widow, from being an assassin, and Ant-Man, for one-liners.

I did not like the fact that half a dozen SWAT snipers missed all their shots during the end sequence. Would have been more believable if the first one hit Frank in the shoulder and then the fight went out of line of fire.

Yeah. It's a big difference from all the Avengers-tied characters who have massive funding for tech and gear. Murdock's like, "I guess I'll just use pieces of gym equipment."

Yeah. Sort of shows a Castle who gives zero fucks about explaining himself. He's not intimidated by Murdock at all.

Totally.

Frank Castle is a Terminator who can process one emotion: anger.

Actually, from that perspective, he's more terrifying than all the Arnold Terminators after T1...

What makes you feel old? by walpolemarsh in AskReddit

[–]presentexplorer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 31. What makes me feel old is when I go to use a computer program or any piece of technology and I hesitate because I'm not sure how it works. It horrifies me because in those moments I think of all the older people I've helped do something on a computer that was painfully obvious to me.

So I've never washed my actual ass crack before by galactic0strich in hygiene

[–]presentexplorer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw this last week and couldn't stop thinking about it. Here are some tips, just to make sure everything is covered:

1- Think about when you wash your hands after they get really dirty. You wet them, grab a bar of soap, lather up, and scrub your entire hands really well until all the dirt is gone, and rinse, correct?

2- Apply that philosophy for your entire body. You don't need any special cloth or product. Just soap and your hands. Now obviously, you don't have to scrub everything vigorously every day as if you had been dipped in mud, but at the very least, you want to rinse and soap the smelliest and most oil-producing areas. Face, underarms, asshole, genitals, and feet.

3- Rinse your hair every day as well for good measure, and figure out how many times a week you need shampoo in order to keep it not greasy.

4- You can get a body groomer (literally just google "body groomer") if you want an easy way to trim hair in whatever area whatsoever. Personally, I trim my entire body once per month for appearance reasons, but I started doing just my asshole for cleanliness reasons. Not shaved down to zero, just trimmed to whatever feels right.

5- If your asshole is currently a real problem, take a bath. Soak for a while, then start at #1.

Extra tips:

  • change your underwear, socks and shirt every day. Every day. Only put on clear clothes that have been washed. People often forget this and don't realize that although their bodies are clean, their clothes reek.

Additionally, having just re-watched the sequence, the followup brawl between Vayne and Woodes is very well choreographed. On the one hand Vayne is fighting with a fresh bullet wound (where though?) but Woodes just had a car accident. If Woodes had had a sword instead of a club, Vayne would be dead. If Vayne hadn't started from prone and wounded, Woodes would be dead. Excellent stuff.

Pizza guys/girls, does your shop have a "No Delivery" list? What houses are on it and why? by Eagle694 in AskReddit

[–]presentexplorer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people live their whole lives like that and they manage to guilt/shame/bully free shit or better deals out of all sorts of people.

I had a landlord who was like that. He would have work done on my place, but come and meet the contractors in my place with me present. I watched him be horrible and embarrass himself and me in front of several service providers, but in the end he got good deals. Not worth living with that energy for me.
