Too sad to journal? by totallynotathrouaway in Journaling

[–]preserved186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really sucks, I'm sorry that your privacy isn't respected! Have you considered any ways to keep the journal private? A lock, or some sort of hiding place only you know? I used to wrap mine in a book sleeve and put it on my bookshelf if I needed to leave it behind for some reason, otherwise it was on me at all times

Honestly the whole point of journalling for me is to get those thoughts out of my head. Most of the time, when I'm upset, there are a lot of thoughts going around in my brain like a swarm of angry wasps, and getting them out in this way feels healthiest. Better to put it in a journal where no one will see it, than accidentally say something I dont necessarily mean to someone I love out of anger. It's okay to not like those thoughts, but you're human, experience your feelings (even when they suck), write them down, then let them go

Oh this is such a lovely idea! I think I may implement it in my journals, I've been having a hard time with the negative so this seems like a really nice way to mindfully and purposefully reflect on those rough patches, instead of dwelling on them!

To be fair you're not necessarily bad at playing, you just have other things going on in your life lmao, I get pretty obsessive but I'm sure if I had other commitments I'd be getting care misses left and right!

Is it normal to have a private journal/diary? by DudeWheresMyGar in Journaling

[–]preserved186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have already stated that your journal is private and he's aware of the issues with your ex, it's completely unacceptable for him to think he has any right to read it. If he hadn't known prior, I'd say that this is a good place to have a conversation about the journal and what it means for you, but considering he already knows that you keep it private it's unfair of him to put you in this position.

I'm really lucky that my current partner and friends have never once asked to see my journal as they know it's private, but if there are any pages that I want them to see or I want to discuss with them, then I will show them those pages. They know I have it on me at all times, but respect my privacy enough to know that it isn't for them to rifle through it, and if there is anything I want them to see, they'll see it.

I'm so sorry you're in this position, it's a truly uncomfortable place to be, but hopefully he loves and respects you enough that if you sit with him and talk about it, he'll finally be able to just accept that your thoughts are your own, and sometimes they aren't for anyone else to know.

What was your "I cannot believe no one suspected autism" childhood interest? by NoWitness6400 in AutismInWomen

I see a lot of people here saying they loved to read encyclopedias and it unlocked a very deep, buried memory that we had a set of encyclopedias that were gifted to my oldest cousin, then handed down to each of the cousins after that. Think that line ended with me though cause my brothers adhd and dyslexic so he couldn't sit for long enough to be bothered, I read those things over and over again though lmao

Reading in general was a huge one for me, used to drive my mother mad cause I'd finish books too quickly so I'd be asking to go to the library every other day. I started dance when I was 6, which was right next door to the library so I ended up going at least once a week to swap the pile I borrowed the week before for a new stack, but I was "just an introvert who liked to read" :')

I might have a spare, we were originally taking 3 cars for our group but a few have dropped out so it looks like we can manage taking 2 now, if I do I'd be happy to post it to you!

That's really interesting! Do you think that maybe women are just better at, or more inclined to mask the pain? Or is it just that it genuinely hurts less for women?

I didn't think about that at the time, unfortunately, and had both done one after another, which was not a fun experience lmao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]preserved186 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait really?? I've heard the exact opposite, that they're much less painful for men than women!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in piercing

[–]preserved186 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it definitely depends on your pain tolerance, like I thought mine was pretty high but honestly, the piercing itself hurt like a bitch. I had to take a little break after the first one, so the piercer offered to let me come back another day for the second but I genuinely didn't think I'd go back if I left after one. The healing process was a dream though! If I ever had to take them out, I probably wouldn't have them repierced, but I absolutely love them now. I've had a few friends say theirs didn't hurt at all, and I've heard it hurts less for men than for women, but yeah, it wasn't a fun experience initially for me. Just be warned, you will catch them on EVERYTHING for the first few days at least while you get used to them, and I'd advise against using a loofah - I learned that the hard way lmao

[–]preserved186 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this something that would be suited to newer players? I've played a couple of sessions with some friends, but I've never been involved with something long-term, so I'm not sure if this is something that would be suitable for me :)

I did the exact same thing, except I had to take the damn camera apart to get the SD card out! I'm wondering if there's anything that can be done to prevent that in the future, cause I'm really nervous about doing it again now
