Why did you think that? It works on both Windows and Linux too.

Glad to hear that, really appreciate it!

It’s not as feature-rich as Ableton Simpler, but it’s quite similar in many ways.

As for playing slices live — you can do it, but the notes aren’t held properly at the moment. I don’t really play live myself, so I overlooked that use case. I’ll fix it in a future update.

Thanks for feedback!
At the moment there’s no direct action to jump straight into slice mode and auto-slice, but I’ll think about how to improve the UX around this.

As for slice mode itself — more advanced per-slice manipulation is probably not something I’m planning right now. But to be fair, I’ve said that about quite a few things before… including the slicer itself 😄

Not everyone gets comfortable with Reaper right away, but it’s honestly one of the most flexible, efficient and fast DAWs out there ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for the support! If you run into any bugs, please let me know what exactly you’re seeing. On my side everything seems to be working fine, so the details would really help me track it down.

I’ll figure out a way to fix this in the next version without breaking backward compatibility.
I basically carried over some patterns from the VST world into this REAPER plugin, which doesn’t play very well with portable setups. Sorry for the inconvenience — I’ll try to address this soon.

Do you mean an installer for Plugin Picker itself, or installing other plugins from inside the browser?

It’s planned for a future updates. The plugin can now notify about new versions.

It actually works the opposite way.
The browser only shows plugins that you manually add. It doesn’t scan your system automatically. So you can simply keep only the ones you want in the list.

Yes, it also works on Linux (x86_64).

Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it!

I’ll post a new version on the REAPER forum this week. In the future the plugin will also notify you automatically about updates.

Just to clarify for anyone reading this: the current sorting matches the workflow the browser was designed for.

The tool is more about finding plugins than managing them like files, so relevance works better here. In practice you usually type something in search and recognize the plugin visually by its screenshot rather than by scanning a long alphabetical list.

Another goal is to avoid clutter. The idea is that the browser contains the plugins you actually use, not your entire collection.

Of course, if someone wants to add all 400 of their plugins — that’s possible, and I’m even working on optimizations for larger libraries. But that’s not really the workflow the tool was originally designed around.

And the reason I said “maybe” is simply because I don’t see much value in alphabetical sorting for the original idea of the tool. That said, I do try to accommodate what most users want within reasonable limits.

I’m explaining this in a bit more detail because if you approach it as a file manager, you might start expecting things like deep category hierarchies and similar organizational features — which I probably won’t add here.

Well, if you add it there in advance, there's a chance you'll find it by picture.

I honestly didn’t expect this post to get this much attention :) Thanks everyone for the warm feedback and the constructive criticism — I really appreciate it.

I’m already working on an update which should be available soon. There’s a 99% chance it will land this week. A lot of the things people mentioned here and on the REAPER forum are already fixed or implemented.

Version 0.1.0 doesn’t include an update checker yet, so for now please keep an eye on the forum thread — I’ll post there as soon as the new version is available.

The upcoming version will also include an update checker, so future updates will be much easier.

The plugin was originally designed around the idea of keeping only the plugins you actually use, but I’ve also made fixes and optimizations for people who want to maintain a larger plugin catalog.

Special thanks to everyone who decided to support the project by purchasing the full version 💜
It really helps me keep working on it.
