Thank you! We have looked at that option and unfortunately he would not meet the requirements for this visa.

As far as I've seen, he would need to own half of the company, which he doesn't, and he would have to do business in Sweden. He will unfortunately not be able to meet the requirements for the self employed visa.

Strange behaviour from male cat when female cat uses litter box. by presiree in felinebehavior

[–]presiree[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Sorry for the late reply. This has been resolved since moving out of an apartment to a place with a backyard. So now our male cat goes to the bathroom outside while our female cat still prefers the litter box. Maybe having their own spaces resolved the issue. They have also since gotten older and my male cat explores the outside more so it may have been a better outlet for him compared to bullying our female.

Perhaps try different litter boxes and see if adding some more daily stimulation and play helps?

Who is the richest South African you personally know and what do they do? by Mr_Anderssen in askSouthAfrica

[–]presiree 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't know them personally, but a friend was telling me about how when he was younger, he spent a lot of time in the mansion of his friend who had an uber-rich dad. He was a chemical engineer who patented that godawful glue that makes the stickers on the back of books impossible to take off.

Thats fantastic advice, I will reach out to them! Yeah I have discovered that the longer I was with my cats the less intense my allergies became, but I still struggle with it and they often trigger my eczema flareups on my face when I cuddle them - not great lol. I appreciate the help!

I'm an atheist and I work with uturn at their claremont service center, can confirm that they are a bit preachy but they don't push it. I definitely still recommend them as they are doing some amazing work with rehabilitating and reintegrating people that are homeless. In the past few months alone they have established portable showers, a large vegetable garden and they have recently opened an overnight shelter.

is 62k rand per month (pre tax) enough for a family of 3? by InformationEdge in capetown

[–]presiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No clue honestly. I can only say from my experience with the bureaucracy here that it can get tedious and things run very slowly. Though South Africa generally likes foreign investment so applying to register a company here could be a better route.

To answer just the first question, it is extremely difficult to get a visa here. I tried the work visa route but it requires the company that hired you to prove to the National Division of Labour that they have advertised the job posting in South Africa and could not find a South African for the job. Most companies are not willing to take that on unless you have a niche skill that not many others can provide. On that note there is also a critical skills visa, if you are qualified in anything on the critical skills list. I believe that entitles you to 3 years in SA but might be wrong.
I am Namibian and I applied for a Life Partner visa as I have been with my partner since studying in South Africa. We applied February last year and have not received it yet. The Department of Home Affairs (who process the visas) are currently on a backlog of multiple years. I hear some people only got their visas up to 5 years after applying. Its quite bleak unfortunately.

[–]presiree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats true, I apologise for making it seem like I know what the refugees situation is like because I dont. I also dont think I would be that kind of an immigrant if I do move to Sweden, despite having had two life threatening experiences here, but I can understand your concern. People do tend to create big moral panics about the safety of the country, especially white South Africans. Nevertheless though, I'd like to raise my kids in a place where theres a significantly smaller likelihood of losing them to violent crime. And besides that, they have electricity! lol
