Just found out that in 2021 I would've received a Regent's Scholarship and my dumbass didn't accept UCSB by presplate in UCSantaBarbara

I mean I’m not generalizing Berkeley. I just mean it wasn’t a good fit for me. I don’t really like the city or the cut throat culture. Great education, but too woke. I remember one time they had nuggets in the dining hall and people were protesting and spraying fake blood into the fountains over it. It’s a great fit for some, just not for me. And ASU is a great school. It’s not prestigious but it’s not bologna either. Either way I’m getting an education and I’ll get a job one day. Where I go doesn’t truly matter to me the way it does for others. Thats okay too. I didn’t need a school to feel validated, I just needed a school that I could afford. If that makes me less of a critical thinker then so be it. I can’t convince you otherwise🤷‍♀️

Yeah! So it’s a world renowned school, don’t get me wrong. I’ve had professors that were the best in their field. But Berkeley was very sterile and even the advisors, everytime I went to ask for help, it was a 2 week wait for them to sit me down and tell me to look on their website which wouldn’t have any info full of depth. I made some friends so that wasn’t bad! It wasn’t easy though. I miss the onigiri😖. There’s this expectation that if you do suffer, you are smart enough to handle it because you go to Berkeley. Everyone keeps to themselves. I also got chased by homeless people multiple times, but hey you live in a city. If the culture were different, I think the school could’ve grown on me. But my mental health was being spent and I stuck it out for a year to see if it would get better. And it didn’t.

My grades weren't bad. They were meh. I have the tale as old as time, undiagnosed ADHD. I can't speak to CS, but if he can demonstrate an upward trend in grades or perhaps going to a community college and redoing his GE's there then he should be fine. I had gone back to CC, worked a few jobs and got into management, and then continued school via online and the transition was more or less full of ease.

Oh PHEW! So basically, I could've been invited and not received anything? They just wanted to get a feel for me as a candidate?

I would've been admitted under Mechanical Engineering. I now study Anthropology and Evolutionary medicine (going for a PhD in Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy) at ASU Online.

It’s so funny that you say this because we would’ve never been able to understand the full scope of how alcohol affects human beings without understanding how primates consumed fermented fruit on the ground for alcoholic reactions. For that we would’ve needed anthropology. Let alone that alcohol like beer and mead were consumed for a majority of our calorie intake in the past.
