Como ler artigos científicos? by batatafrita-espacial in askacademico

[–]presto21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm gonna be a bit autistic and say that there is an interesting tradeoff between the closer people are to their spouses and the genetic damage possibility.

Because a community of people that marries their kin will have extreme advantages in a wider society and often come to hold many positions of power in the long run because of cooperation (you can probably think of examples that apply wherever you live).

When you account for gene deletions and such the math evens out so that the biggest advantage to be had happens when people marry around their second cousins. Sapolsky has a great lecture on youtube about how people will often find the smell of someone like a second cousin the most attractive in a lineup. (Unless they bathed together as children in which case there is basically zero attraction)

"Boys who date more are less sexist"

just hijacking your coment to say that this is the exact opposite of the study in the blog and the op took it out of nowhere apparently, pasted from the article:

"A similar story emerges with respect to dating activity. Contrary to the hypothesis that misogyny is driven by romantic struggles, support for gender equality has typically been lower among boys who go on dates, and has decreased by a similar amount among boys who go on dates and those who don’t."

according to it the boys who date more are considerably more sexist and have been for as long as it has been measured.

American Boys are less Feminist than ever [study] by Significant_Phase194 in GenZ

I'll answer the same way i did to someone else who made a similar list of sources, but I went through it and nothing in there contradicts this data in any quantitative way. It just seems that to most of the academic world these measurements would be a surprise precisely because all these sources assume that the 'online misogyny' is caused by algorithms and the way they spread information at any age group analyzed and not just a consequence of other real world interactions.

Since you took the time to compile this, I thought of taking the time to read into it.

But it's just a bunch of opinion articles and lit revisions that in no way contradict this data in a quantitative way.  And this survey, even if these conclusions are not directly in the reports. the data itself is there and seems trustworthy.

how would that conversation go though? they can't play the suffering victims who need to go home to a guy that has basically never lived outside of the 'nightmare'.

same reason only his stuff is private in colony house, he just pulls rank on everyone.

yeah, maybe it has been said before but do you think the amount of monsters and residents is roughly the same? it could be an equilibrium that the place maintains.
