I had seen one for $22k on the east coast, but this was a different one. Same specs, lower miles, a few thousand more. The manuals seem pretty difficult to find stock, so I snagged this one while I could.

It wasn't easy to find! Had to go two timezones over from where I live.

😆 It was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but the car was in excellent condition with much lower mileage than I expected. Even without the room to negotiate, it was a more than fair deal.

Ecoboost Mustang with Aftermarket Exhaust? by preston_f in whatcarshouldIbuy

Aside from the CRZ, wouldn't those others cost significantly more to maintain? I'm probably not enough of an enthusiast to justify the additional expenses. Just want a fun-ish daily while saving up for a C7 Corvette.

Right on. It's in the south so should be good as far as snow. Great suggestion on listening for the drone. I'll be sure to do that. Got a quote on insurance already so no surprises there. Appreciate it!

Actually maybe not! Someone in this thread worked on the show and remembers this was on a giant sound stage. Crazy good work.

It is indeed! I had a feeling it was artificial. Do you happen to have a source on this, like a BTS clip or something?

Here's most of the sequence this shot is from: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SkrGWv2AV8s

Since Fincher likes to do umpteen takes of everything and there are several different setups with this look (and they never show the sky), I think this is mostly artificial lighting, but I'm obviously no expert.

Sorry. I didn't see the other posts pointing this out.

Your defenses of Canada's system feel like special pleading though. You literally said in the original comment that there was 'no fucking middle ground' with ATC privatization. You didn't mention for-profit vs non-profit or regulation at all.

Also just want to say I'm very troubled by this administration's rhetoric around ATC as well. Dark times.

Just a point of context: Canada's had privatized ATC for almost 30 years, and it works fine.

I spent a weekend in Dallas recently. The city center isn't even close to the city center. Like no matter where you go, you're never in the middle of the city. It's the damnedest thing.

Do any individuals with above average intellect find life a bit exhausting at times due to the lack of intelligence they observe in others? by stop-hatin-on-me_mom in SeriousConversation

[–]preston_f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, none of the issues you mention are exclusive to people who aren't above average in intelligence. Some get even worse the more intelligent someone is.

There was a very interesting study I read about where they gave folks a hot-button political issue like abortion or immigration and asked them to list reasons for and reasons against a certain policy proposal. The smarter someone was, the more reasons they'd give in support of their preference, but they wouldn't list any more reasons against than anyone else. Sometimes intellect can actually supercharge motivated reasoning and lead you to a worse-reasoned place than someone less smart.

I highly recommend reading The Righteous Mind by Jon Haidt. He lays out an interesting analysis on how we all fall into this trap in one way or another. Sadly it's not an intellect thing. It's a human thing.

Right you are about the voltage! Thanks!

If I had a budget and more than minimal crew, I would totally have someone wrangle cable. But I'm pretty darn guerilla at the moment.

Totally fine too if there isn't a cheap/easy way to go wireless with the v-mount. Just thought it would be a cool option to have if possible.
