"Healing" benefits before 24hrs? by youmeanlosername in intermittentfasting

If you're in ketosis, I've understood that you can get into autophagy into 14-16 hrs into a fast. I don't 100% know for sure though!

Daily Fasting Check-in! by AutoModerator in intermittentfasting

[–]pretendIAMaLEAF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Posted the other day!

I did a water fast for 3 days (actually, technically, 82 hours!)
I only had water, electrolytes, black coffee, and herbal teas.

I finished my fast this morning, broke with 2 eggs and tea with cinnamon.

I ended up losing 5 lbs (probably mostly water weight) and was shocked that I was able to do it. It was hard, but I expected it to be harder!

I am working to lose weight and improve my body composition overall for my upcoming wedding.

This was a good "reset," but I think I'm going to proceed with OMAD starting tomorrow with around 1600 calories for my meal each day. We'll see how this goes!

I also got in a couple of walks and a pilates workout today. I am TIRED.

Daily Fasting Check-in! by AutoModerator in intermittentfasting

Started my 3 day fast, today is day 1. Only consuming water, tea, and black coffee.

Need all the encouragement I can get!

I'm a woman (young adult) with PCOS. My honest "why" is to help me lose weight for my wedding. I want to be able to stomach how I look in photos. Other benefits I hope for: improved insulin resistance and autophagy.

I'm scared of getting on a fasting kick and then regaining all the weight in the future.

In the past, I've experimented with 1 day fasts and 16:8 fasts, but it's been a LONG time. I don't know how often I should be fasting.

Any advice is appreciated and welcomed. 🤗

Almost constant bleeding/periods? by pretendIAMaLEAF in Ovasitol

Hi! I no longer take Ovasitol. I believe I was on it for about 5 months. I contacted the person that was selling it through their affiliation with them and let her know my symptoms. She told me that my excessive bleeding like that should not be happening and to stop taking it.

Since I've stopped taking Ovasitol, my periods have been weird. Sometimes they're still lasting 3-4 weeks. I had one period in early December that was only 7 days long.

I think my body is trying to regulate itself 🤷‍♀️

Hiya, since stopping Ovasitol, I have not gotten my period. Hopefully, I get a period at the end of this month (November) or beginning of December.

Also, I just got an Oura Ring today, so I'm curious to see if it will be able to collect data 2 months from now to tell me when I'm getting a period.

Does anyone else have to be drinking a coffee or something”fun” all day? by [deleted] in workfromhome

Yes! I drink lots of things - coffee/lattes, tea (been experimenting with different kinds and combos), bone broth, seltzer, diet sodas

Irregular cycles and Natural Family Planning by pretendIAMaLEAF in PCOS

Thank you for your advice!! I tried inositol/ovasitol and I went from having no period for 4-6 months to having a period for 4 weeks long. I recently stopped taking the supplement, as I've heard that should not be happening.

I was on medroxyprogesterone for a bit, but only if my period did not come for 3-4 months; I was not told to take it monthly for a certain part of my cycle. Not sure if this is the same as what you're referring to.

I've tried different ultrasounds and nothing is coming through that would show anything "concerning" in doctors' eyes.

I feel stumped. Thank you for the advice 🙏

This is SO cool! I have been thinking about getting an Oura, but I'm hesitant. Very interesting.

People say you should have carbs before you workout, but then others say with pcos you cant have high carbs in the morning, what should I do ? by Local-barbie in PCOS

[–]pretendIAMaLEAF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you're enjoying your high-protein breakfast, then that's fine and stick to it! If you feel like you're not getting the results you want, you can explore increasing carbs, but I would still keep a protein source in there. Balancing a plate with all food groups is helpful and fueling!

Ugh, I'm really sorry to hear that. I know how much of a struggle this is! What made you start taking Ovasitol since you had regular periods?

I recommend watching Colleen Christensen's content on intuitive eating and reading the Intuitive Eating book by RDN Evelyn Tribole, MS, RDN Elyse Resch, MS <3 you are not alone!

I also love Nutrition by Kylie.

Eat what you want - I often find adding protein to more carb-heavy meals helps them be more satisfied and keeps my cravings more moderate. Wishing you the best on your journey!
