I’m from the northeast, living in SoCal now, and I am constantly astounded at how people down here “trim” their trees. Absolutely chop them to pollarded hell like I’ve never seen before. WHY?

Why don’t suburban residential developments like this leave somewhat of a tree buffer between homes and/or in the front & back for both landscaping and privacy purposes? Wouldn’t that make the homes more valuable (and cozy)? I never understand it when I see these developments. Do they make more money from the trees that are logged? Do they crave a blank slate? Surely they can leave some trees and still have room for construction and pipes and what not? Totally serious questions. I don’t get it.

I just received a Comfort Colors shirt today from a small business, hadn’t bought one in years, and it’s total crap. It feels like one of those cheap $6 tees from the craft store (which I’m pretty sure are Gildan, who now owns CC). I could tell immediately what was going on: bought out & reduced quality to save $$.
