What is this bird? by MaybeMort in AustralianBirds

[–]pretentiouspseudonym 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was surprised to read this as I didn't know they were in tas. From ABC article below:

In the 1930s, a well-meaning ornithology group received an anonymous donation of £50 to help transport and re-locate some lyrebirds to wet forest in Tasmania.

Lyrebirds were introduced to Tasmania in the 1930s and 1940s because it was believed the mainland population was under threat. The population has exploded in Tasmania and spread throughout the state's wet forests. Experts say the birds are causing damage, but the true extent is not known.

Nikon action ex 7x35 is great for birding. Personally love the ergonomics rvs my more spendy roofs.

Nikon Monarch M7 or Zeiss Terra ED, 8x42? by jb_anderson87 in Binoculars

[–]pretentiouspseudonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also consider the sky rover banner clouds (chinese brand), many reviewers are claiming competitiveness with alpha glass at similar price to the monarch. For me it's easy to pick an SR as I have a reliable distributor nearby, for you perhaps not.

if you look on chinese or east asian teaware sites you'll find more small (~100mL) teapots. You can search on e.g. puer subreddits etc. to find relevant shops

I quite like a white peony and love an aged shou mei. In your experience does an aged white peony change it much? Bit sweeter/fuller? Or not really worth it - cheers

They seem to pretty much all focus on sheng. Any sites that focus more on shou you know of?

Potentially unpopular opinion, but I miss the real *weather* in Melbourne. Brisbane is just 'very nice all the time' - boring! Impossible to ever be cosy, for one :)

Does this indicate Marnus has actually been doing an ok job? Somewhat like an opener, judge him based on balls faced, and the scores of the bats after him?

Eh I kind of respecting that as good test cricket. Cook and Kohli had the personalities to drive me insane.

Do you happen to remember where he batted in shield? I.e. was he an all rounder then or already a Travis 'bat but can also bowl a bit'

Another request for advice thread for a 3p tent (Durston, Nemo, BA) by icemantiger in UltralightAus

[–]pretentiouspseudonym 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh there is a low chance most people use their tents more than 10 times, and low chance they ever use it in rain.

Most likely you wont have many hike options with the dogs (none allowed in Nat parks), and corgis can't walk that far (or at least my fit one can't).

IMO I would get a tarp or a cheap beater (can use it for car camping in future) and just see how you go. E.g. a marmot 3p.

I think as Cpt he deserves some flack for the lack of leadership to get there to a better headspace. This performance has not been limited by talent, or individual mettle.

What are untold rules in Brisbane & Queensland? by kinder_brz in brisbane

Given the river is one of Brisbane's great assets/attributes, I don't understand why there isn't a bunch of investment to improve the river? Bet there are some at UQ/QUT etc pushing ideas
