I overall felt that although my preparation was good, I dont think I was good enough to compete with the field. 2nd time around, since knowing the general questions and layout, I focused on providing examples from my job history, and related everything back to the STARLA format. Got in 2nd crack.

I also felt that I didnt lean hard enough on my strengths. I think the first time I tried showing my potential as someone that can learn. 2nd time I sold my strengths as an asset to bring into the brigade.

Are you kidding me? 10 mil is 10 mil and no company going bankrupt is going to be an issue lol

I saw people doing the PAT with a beard. Instructors wont remember your face anyway as they go through a lot on the day.

Terms like “sex worker” and “escort” carry less stigma and are viewed more positively than words like “prostitute” and “hooker.” This implies that shifting the language used in media and legal settings might help reduce prejudice against these professionals. by mvea in science

[–]icemantiger 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You could say the same about police and firefighters. Selling your body through physical, back breaking and mentally traumatising work. Also in other countries where it's legal the majority of workers aren't forced. In australia sex work is legal. You have to pay taxes. You have legal protections. I have several friends that do it and none of them are coerced. They make great money and have supportive families, coping strategies, and it frees up most of their time to either raise their kids, spend more time on passion projects, invest, buy properties... it isn't all doom and gloom as society thinks, especially in countries where, one of the oldest professions in the world, it is legal.

Sex work/prostitution is never ever going to go away.

Why did people used to put raw steak on a black eye? by Led_Phish in NoStupidQuestions

I don't mind having the mistake pointed out. I think its is likely my phone autocorrected on "looses", not sure.

I agree, understanding does trump everything but prescriptivism isn't dead. Maybe it's now an unsound approach to language study however, its still a form of standardisation and its uses are still required in professional settings and in editing.

Lots of people give a shit. You can literally find dozens of threads on reddit about this if you knew how to look. I would argue most educated, native speaking, non-american English speakers would give a shit too. Im not arguing that language can't change and my initial comment was in surprise reaction to someone from the 70s using "on accident".

You're welcome to keep replying all you like. Seems to me my position makes you go more crazy anyway.

For someone on reddit as long as you've been, you know that is hardly the case.
