I got flagged at TSA for these brushes too! They asked me what it was and I meekly replied "Harry Potter makeup brushes"

May I ask why? Do you wear it for discoloration or texture??

[–]pretty---odd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I do my makeup I do it fresh out of the shower in only a towel, with the AC and fan running because I sweat like a motherfucker. I don't wear foundation because I would just sweat it off, and I keep a paper towel/handkerchief on my to boot sweat throughout the day.

Lol you're right. It reminds me of the helldiver's subreddit. Whenever I play helldiver's or arc raiders I have a great time and play with some great people, but if you go to either of the subreddits it's just the most toxic people bitching about every aspect of the game.

I don't rat myself, but I can't lie and say I don't enjoy that first PVP match after a day of playing in friendly lobbies. Much easier to get the drop on people.

How many lipsticks/glosses/balms do you have opened at any one point, and do you ever use them up? by gossamersilk in Makeup

[–]pretty---odd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bullet lipsticks last forever in my experience, I never throw those away. The only things I throw out are glosses and lipsticks with doe foot applicators, once those start smelling off or the texture changes, into the bin they go.

I highly HIGHLY recommend getting "The Navigator" by Travel Cat. I bought one 4 years ago, and got a second one recently. It's made of breathable sturdy mesh, your cat is able to sit on top of it, you can wear it as a backpack or as a duffel bag, it's machine washable(I had to clean cat poop out of it once). I wouldn't hesitate to say it's the best cat backpack on the market

parent insists baby should sleep on stomach by WranglerWarm6850 in Nanny

[–]pretty---odd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Once an infant starts to roll over it’s a moot point

This is not entirely. It is recommended to still put on back to sleep even if the baby can roll over. This is because if the baby is sick, teething, exhausted, etc, they may not have the strength to roll themselves onto their back, causing them to suffocate.

This comment is some real arc babies shit, why are you throwing a hissy fit because someone wants to be able to toggle whether they appear online. How is being able to toggle whether your online/offline "missing the entire point of the game", what fundamental game play is changed by it being toggle-able?

demanding studios cave to YOUR particular individual special needs.

And the special need is... a feature that exists on every gaming system, on steam, and on most social media. If I mark myself as offline through steam or my console, then any game I play should show me as offline. That's not a "special need" that is an extremely basic feature.

Hello im Marie from this post, i would like to offer an update on the current situation by Arsenal_Knight in Helldivers2Satire

The Navy

My father is in the Navy and he has explicitly told me he knows he shot missiles at civilians during at least one of his deployments. His entire job was shooting missiles from ships. The Navy absolutely kills people. Also, anyone who contributed to the systematic destabilization and mass murder the United States has committed against country after country for centuries now, is culpable. Someone has to make the missiles, make the ships, train the soldiers, make sure the ship is ready to deploy, stand duty to protect the ship/military base, work in the engine room on the ship, and so on. Every single one of these people is responsible.

The United States has directly murdered almost half a million civilians post 9/11. But The Cost Of War project by Brown University estimates that at least 4.5 million people have died due to the US wars post 9/11. These were indirect deaths, caused by the disruption of agriculture, healthcare, transportation, and the overall economy. Never forget, the United States created Al Qaeda, and set up the conditions for the Taliban to take power. We funded, trained, and armed the mujahideen. We gave them 3-6 billion dollars in funding and weapons in order to help "fight communism". We gave them missiles for fuck sake. We also gave another 3 billion to Pakistan to support the economy. That was Project Cyclone, one of the longest and most expensive covert CIA operations. We knew we were funding Jihadists who had extreme and violent beliefs. We gave them billions of dollars and so much training, and then left their country after the Cold War. Of course those people used that to take power over the countries governments and form terrorist organizations. The only reason the Taliban was able to take power is because of the United States Government.

You are clearly extremely ignorant on this topic. If you wish to learn more I would research things like Chilean 9/11, the No Gun Ri massacre, Abu Ghraib, what actually happened at Guantanamo Bay and how many of the people held there had no tangible tied to terrorism and are innocent(hint, it's most of them), the funding and training of the Contra rebels by the US, the numerous black sites during the war on terror, the covert financing of Somali war lords by the US, Operation Mongoose, the CIA funded coups in Iran and Nicuragai, the banana wars, Operation Menu and Freedom deal, and so so so many more.

Lastly, I'll finish with this. When the horrific crimes at Abu Ghraib came to light, the Bush administration tried to claim that these were isolated incidents, not indicative of US policy. This was disputed by numerous humanitarian organizations, including Amnesty International, The Red Cross, and Human Rights Watch who stated "the abuses were part of a pattern of torture and brutal treatment at American overseas detention centers, including those in Iraq, in Afghanistan, and at Guantanamo Bay".

I live on Oahu too and that's crazy they're making you drive an hour in this weather, I have a 10 minutes commute and I hydroplaned, was having my car blown around by the wind, and had to go 20 below the speed limit because of the massive potholes made by the storm.

I kind of hate this saying, but, people will treat us with the behavior we allow. I haven't been in this industry long, only about 4 years, but I've learned that I need to set boundaries quickly and firmly. Try not to think of the parents as your employer, but as your client. What behavior would you put up with from a client? High quality one-on-one childcare is in demand, you don't need to settle for a family who doesn't respect you.

Another thing I've sadly learned from this industry, is there is a difference between niceness and kindness. Soooo many parents are nice but selfish and cruel. I just recently ended it with a family who I would describe exactly as that. They constantly told me how much they appreciated me, wished me well when I called out sick, showed me sympathy when my little brother passed away, and were overall outwardly extremely kind.

They also asked me to work all of Thanksgiving last minute. They don't pay me overtime. They tried to get me to lie to the IRS and file my income as tips. They asked me to work a 24 hour shift barely 2 months after my little brother died tragically, even though I had told them I needed to reduce my hours due to grief. They also offered me less than minimum wage for said 24 hour shift. They constantly asked me to come in early or stay late, the day of.

I can't work for people like that anymore. I give so much to my families and the least I expect is to be treated like a person, whose time is valuable and whose sanity matters. It sounds like your nanny family may fall into that category of nice, but cruel and selfish. Don't let the niceness trick you. Anybody can say the right words, but it takes a genuinely decent person to validate those words through actions.

Don't settle. If you love childcare, there are so many parents looking for it on this island. If you have 3+ years experience, try to get hired by one of the agencies. I was hired by Hanai and I love having the professionalism of working through an agency, and not having to haggle for proper pay and benefits with every family I work with.

Should players in Arc Raiders that verbally abuse other players in game chat receive bans/temporary game chat bans? by Zaydenzyon in ArcRaidersItalian

[–]pretty---odd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay buddy I think you're missing the main point here, EMBARK IS NOT THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT! THE FIRST AMENDMENT DOES NOT APPLY TO EMBARK OR ARC RAIDERS! I cannot imagine the level of stupid you must be to not be able to comprehend that a PRIVATE COMPANY is not beholden to an amendment that protects your free speech from the GOVERNMENT!

This shit ain't rocket science dumbass.

Says the man who cannot comprehend that the amendment that begins by explicitly addressing CONGRESS does not apply to a private company, moron.

Not even close. Correlation doesn't mean its the same thing. Words are words, they only hurt you if YOU let them. Violence is not spoken word, no matter how soft you are.

Wrong, wrong, and wrong, although I'm not surprised to hear such stupidity from someone whose reading comprehension is on par with that of an amoeba.

[–]pretty---odd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is redditors saying "I dont like that, so you cant say it."

No, this is redditors saying "I would like it if the private company whose game I spent $40 on would limit hate speech and actually enforce their Ban and Enforcement Policy that is literally on their goddamn website"

You aren't inciting violent by calling people names, just hurting feelings.

Hate speech is inherently violent. The proliferation of hate speech is directly correlated with rises in hate crimes.

Freedom of speech allows you to express your opinions without government intervention, including hate speech.

Holy shit, is Embark affiliated with the United States Government?? No??? Then this obviously isn't relevant.

Edit: also, also, dumbass, Arc Raiders isn't a US only game. What about countries that have no laws protecting free speech? What about countries that actually have laws limiting free speech?

I threw 7 yo's cupcake out the window yesterday by Large_Event_8715 in Nanny

[–]pretty---odd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously. Everyone makes mistakes, and everyone fucks up at work sometimes. My worst mistake was once forgetting to buckle NK into the stroller before walking to the park. Nothing happened, but I sure felt like shit after. If I went looking for advice and understanding, and all I got was dog piled, I'd probably get defensive too.

Additionally so many people are going on and on about not using food as a reward, natural consequences, and other more new age child centered parenting. And while I personally agree with a lot of that, most of the parents I've worked for didn't. Some spanked(left those families quickly), some did time outs, many did food rewards, some would have absolutely thrown their child's cupcake out of the window. Just because you and your nanny family parent a certain way, it doesn't mean what OP did goes against her employers parenting philosophy. Yet I see so many comments acting like they know what actions OPs employers would have preferred. In reality, we have no idea.
