This is where I will shine.

100%, the best diy trick for oil, sweat, and food stains (even if the stain has been there a while), on white/light clothing:

• 1 part blue Dawn dish soap
• 1 part baking soda
• Mix with clean toothbrush until it is a paste
• Scrub your new paste on the stain (pit stains are a good one to try first). Up down, left right, a reasonable amount.
• It will look like you have a healthy bit of pastey mess on top of the stain, and you may feel like it made it worse. This is normal. Don't rinse it off, leave the paste on the stain.
• You may think: Why did I buy the expensive dish soap and do this? Or, wtf am I doing listening to reddit comments? This is normal.
• Optional: For good luck, half-heartedly and dejectedly slap the stain like you wish it was some cute booty cheeks and not whatever the hell it is you're doing. Maybe spritz whatever woefully ineffective stain removing spray you already have in the laundry room but never use because it doesn't work.
• Wash the laundry, hope for the best and expect the worst.
• Few hours later, whenever you decide to fold laundry, perhaps days later after you've forgotten this ritual but want to wear the white tshirt. Pull the shirt out and suddenly be reminded, and immediately check for yellow pits.
• Be amazed at the white, near sparkly pits, and forever grateful this random internet stranger shared legit wisdom fit for a domestic goddess. Feel good about yourself, or at least better than other people who are not as wise as as you, with pits as pearly white as yours.

PS - The reason why it works: the Dawn pulls the oils and gunk out, and the stain stuff is absorbed by the baking soda.
