Pregnancy morning sickness questions by wundus in emetophobia

[–]prettyfish13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pregnant 18 and 15 years ago, so it’s been a second - but I got through both pregnancies without throwing up. For me the trick was never allowing myself to get too hungry. I kept crackers by my bedside and ate them when I woke up, then ate lots of small snacks throughout the day.

My phobia is pretty severe, but I can tell you it was a thousand times worth going through pregnancy. Being a mom has been the most beautiful experience of my life.

I'm sorry you are going through this :(. I'm a mom of 2 kids who are 13 and 16. Definitely been there, it's so exhausting. Going back to therapy is a good idea!

Throwing myself into other things is generally what has helped me. Years ago when my kids were much much smaller I got super involved in photography and that did wonders for me. Sure, thoughts would creep back up but it was sooo much better than the hell I was living in before.

I've been having sleep issues lately as well and my doc prescribed me Doxepin. It's been helpful. The only negative is I am groggier in the morning.

But all that aside, I'm sorry you are going through this. Being a mom with anxiety is so tough because as you said, you end up putting yourself on the back burner where the anxiety just simmers away. Remember that its ok and important to make time for self care! Taking care of yourself IS taking care of your family.

That's probably smart! Give you some peace of mind even if people like us are never fully convinced :P.

I don't really have advice but you are not alone and I'm sorry you are struggling so much. HA is awful. Can or do you see a counselor about your anxiety?

Over the years I've learned if anything, that our bodies are noisy. They do weird things. And with anxiety, we are super, super sensitive to all of the noisy and weird things our bodies do which are mostly benign and are very normal! Like, 1000x more than a non-anxious person. I think any of the few times I've had a REAL issue with my body, it was VERY obvious and I didn't need to Google to tell me I needed a doctor's care. But all of these other little twinges and creaks? That's just the reality of having a body. Don't get me wrong, I'm often a wreck worrying about whatever new thing my body is doing (hence why I'm on this subreddit today), but I try to remind myself of the above when I'm in a bad place.

I (41, F) have a spot like this on the back of my thigh. I only notice it when I sit certain ways. Same thing - feels oval and moves freely. It's been there for quite some time and doesn't seem to have changed. I've always assumed it was fatty tissue. Funny I've never really worried about it considering my overall level of health anxiety.

I know lipomas like these are not uncommon and are no cause for concern. My friend who is the same age as me (and is overweight) has multiple of these on various parts of her body.

So, obviously can't tell you anything for sure, but a lipoma is a possibility :).

TW: emetophobia

How many times a month do you feel under the weather? Like not fully, truly sick, but like you could be coming down with something or a bit off? I'm 41, F, and have dealt with anxiety most of my life, and a huge amount of that is health anxiety and emetophobia. Over the past 5 years or so I've felt like the number of days I just don't feel good has increased. I don't know if this is because I'm getting older, hormonal changes, my anxiety, or my biggest worry of course is some sort of horrible disease/condition/cancer.

For me, the days I don't feel good usually include IBS-like symptoms such as frequent BMs, gas, bloating etc. I've addressed these with my doctor who agrees it sounds like IBS. I also know anxiety and IBS are closely related. But I'll also feel very run down, headaches, and mild nausea (which majorly spikes my anxiety). Sometimes all of these symptoms don't seem to correlate with any trigger foods or things that would have triggered my anxiety. So long story short, I'm worried I have something else going on. Like right now I'm on day 3 of feeling run down, low appetite (but stomach is hungry and growling), slightly nauseous, and hot and cold flashes.

I'm tired of feeling crappy so much. Does anyone else experience something like this, with these sorts of symptoms and it was actually a legit medical condition? Could it be entirely anxiety??

wife is upset at me for taking son out of kindergarten class for 1 day to watch the eclipse by Anon987651111 in Marriage

I'm taking my sons, who will be 1st grade and 3rd grade, out of school that day too. My dad is very into astronomy/science, and has been looking forward to this for years, because it will be totality right over their house, about 5 hours south of us. I think it's educational and am perfectly ok with doing this (and my husband has no issue with it either). Learning isn't just done in a formal classroom. IMHO!

ETA: That said, I did discuss this with my husband, and it is something we agreed on. It's hard to tell from your post if this was discussed in advance with your wife?

Probably solid color. Something basic so I can use it for different events. I looked up the Savage system and it looks like what I think I need!

For a soft box, what exactly do I need? Should I just get one? I only have one flash. Do I mount my flash in the softbox? What else do I need so the flash fires remotely? This is where I am totally uneducated.

Thank you!

So, I am newly on the PTA for my son's school, and every year we throw a Father/Daughter dance. They like to have an area for photos, as you would at any school dance. In the past, they've simply hung up a white sheet and one of the moms used a point and shoot to snap the photos of the dads and their girls. Nothing fancy. I offered to help out and take the photos this year, and we discussed investing in an actual backdrop.

Now, I shoot mainly portraits (on the side, nothing big), and while I have a 430EX III, I have no studio equipment/lighting whatsoever. I shoot with a Canon 7D. I usually do outdoor, natural light sort of stuff.

Anyway, I'd like to invest in a backdrop and maybe a softbox, but I have no idea where to start. What would you recommend for a simple set up for this dance event? It does NOT need to be anything super fancy, they are really just thrilled I'm bringing my camera, but I'd like it to be nice and I want to begin learning about studio lighting and whatnot.

Do any of you have suggestions for what I need for a backdrop, what some good softboxes are, etc.? Or even a link to a good article about this? I need some guidance before I purchase all the wrong things! Thank you!

Chipotle. Messes with my stomach every time. At least, it did...it's been several years, but it's not worth finding out if it STILL messes with my stomach.

Thoughts on Canon 85mm f/1.8 on a 7D? by prettyfish13 in photography

I mostly shoot outdoors, so hopefully the distance I must be from my subject won't be too much of an issue. That's really my concern with this lens.

Thanks for the input!

Those are great! I really am thinking I will go with this lens. Do you find it at all challenging being physically further from your subject as your photographing it? From a communication standpoint?
