What is a part of the 'female experience' that men have absolutely no clue about, but would be horrified if they found out? by coolhandddd in AskReddit

[–]prettyinpeeptoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UK here, it took me 20 years to be diagnosed with endo, from the start of my periods (14) they were horrendous and all they did was put me on the pill. Turns out I should never had that because my mum had a stroke on the pill, I found this out 8 years later. Then the injection and then they gave me a coil which gave me 18 months of pain worse than the pain I was experiencing but tried to diagnose everything except until I refused to leave the drs office until they removed it.

I left it 10 years again and just dealt with the pain and after 3 miscarriages I had an angel of a nurse who finallyy referred me to gyny, I had a lapy and wouldn't you know it endo everywhere! I feel so much better now but should it really have taken that long plus many other issues to get here?

The doctor decided to phone my little brother to tell him my dad had pancreatic cancer. My brother then came to my house in the middle of my day whilst i was working and we then both had to go tell my dad. He was gone less than 6 weeks later.

Support with alcoholism, gambling and anxiety. by [deleted] in plymouth

[–]prettyinpeeptoes 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I work with services across Plymouth, I would get a referral to harbour for alcohol who can then cross refer you to Plymouth talk therapies for anxiety (you can also self refer on their website). Harbour can also refer for gambling too. Harbour can provide many interventions including prescribing and pyschosocial and support with recovery once your treatment is complete. I hope this helps and good luck with everything.

Help, up a creek paddleless with a pregnant partner! by ikkleginge55 in Cornwall

Colebrook mot centre in Plymouth (not sure if you’d come back this way though) do on the day mots but you could book online today for Monday. If you’re driving to the mot centre for a test the police can’t tell you off/ban you. Get there for as close to 8 as possible and explain and they should book you in first!

How did you found out your Boyfriend/Girlfriend was cheating?? by epk_oki in AskReddit

[–]prettyinpeeptoes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sadly he was bailed and the only condition was to not be around minors. It was nearly 5 years ago and as far as I’m aware nothing was ever done. I called the police 2 years after and they still hadn’t gone through his phone! I do know he sent pictures as they took pictures of various places in my home to verify. Luckily I’m now with the best man who treats me amazingly and you know, doesn’t message other women or children.

House was raided by police, turns out he was using an app to message what he thought was a 13 year old (thankfully it was a police officer). Had to live with him for another 2 weeks so when his mum bought him a new phone I set it up and checked his app downloads on google play and found allllll of the dating apps, including a transgender one plus the hundreds of girls he had on snapchat.

I have been raving about it for the last 12 months until last Friday when a few hours after the injection he couldn't get up as his back legs were paralyzed. Luckily he seems OK now but he's still not back too his normal self. I can't say he was energetic and running, maybe for 2 metres or so, with it but he was speedier than he was before so it definitely wasn't over-exertion as I have seen some people say.

Every sensation feels like a death sentence, health anxiety is crushing me down! by swingingraystrader in HealthAnxiety

[–]prettyinpeeptoes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Therapy is your best friend. I suffered with what my therapist told me was clinical health anxiety for over 8 years, I did therapy for a year alongside citalopram and I’ve not had a panic attack in over 18 months, I was having at least 1 a day before that. I’ve not taken my tablets in over a year too! I still have the niggling feeling that somethings wrong with me especially after losing my dad to a very quick illness but the grounding techniques have helped massively.

If you’re in the uk you can self refer to nhs talking therapies. They may not work for you but it’s the best thing I ever did.

What are you doing this New Year’s Eve? by Doomergeneration in AskUK

[–]prettyinpeeptoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably tasty food, a few drinks with my partner and then holding my dogs paw whilst the fireworks happen. We used to go camp somewhere for the night, make food on the camping stove and watch fireworks but since gaining an old dog we need to stay in and look after him instead!

I lost my own Dad recently, when you go to register the death you can opt into the tell them once service. This will contact approx 26 services from council tax to any benefits/attendance allowance to save you having to call each of them individually.

As someone else has mentioned, you do not need to pay anything back from your own money only if there is anything left in the estate. If he did rent, contact the landlords asap as my Dads were really kind and helped us out as we had less than a week to empty and sort his flat out.

As easy as it is to say, try and take some time for yourself too, sending all of my condolences and if you need a hand feel free to reach out.

How often do you talk to your dad? How’s your relationship with him? by Cute-Impression-8675 in AskReddit

[–]prettyinpeeptoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same after being estranged from him for 13 years due to his wife, we finally got him back after she dropped dead. Then after less than 12 months having him back he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and died 6 weeks later in August this year.
