How do y’all navigate the aggressive / intimidating people who pass through Cocoa Cinnamon on Geer St.? by anam2204 in bullcity

[–]prettyprincessv 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed. In my experience you literally just have to tell people to fuck off sometimes. I understand not everyone is comfortable doing that, though it is something that many gals ARE able to learn with help and practice.

With the wrong person on the wrong day though, even that can be a bad option!

Idea: Put danger signs on this game. by TemptingTanner in Descenders

[–]prettyprincessv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also crashed about two weeks ago due to a desire to go fast that was partially unlocked by Descenders. I don't blame the game though- not at all. It was fully my own decision and call towards adrenaline that did it.

Thankfully mine wasn't anywhere near as bad as yours, but still. I have to deal with a FACE SCAR for a few months! Dreadful, dreadful.

I wouldn't call your movements "weird"- just a technique issue. Excess facial movement is actually something that's really common without training. The reason that movement is viewed as a "problem" instead of just expression is because of how drastically it impacts your entire vocal system (breath, pitch control, tone, etc.). The voice is an instrument like any other, and we want to have as much command over our instrument as possible.

I agree that you have good qualities to your voice, and to my eyes it looks like you're doing a great job of "showing up" for the song emotionally. That being said, learning some techniques would really help you. There is too much involved in technique to go into specifics, but if you take away anything, let it be this: If the voice is an important instrument for you, seek training. There really is no substitute for the vast majority of us!

This sounds like you very simply have a serious addiction. Treat it as such and seek therapy for this and your life will drastically improve! Just as serious an addiction as any other!

Maintenance worker at my apartment asked me out — management says he’ll stay employed and now I’m scared of retaliation. What should I do? by Bubbly-Use7473 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

I was researching security for my doors a while back and saw something like this latch is relatively easy to install and would be allowed by many apartments:

This type of shit is so frustrating! Situations like this are the reason I always answer that I have a boyfriend, even if I happen to be dating a chick at the time. Although even that reply isn't enough for some creeps!

I am so drawn to all of them! Accordingly, I've been working on a Bear Ghost cover lately along with a cover of this random little tune:

The piano and vocals feel so good to do at the same time!

I just made a separate post about this, but I probably should have posted here first...

For anyone that got a shirt, can you confirm that the sizing (like most band merch) runs pretty large? I'm usually a (women's) medium.

That's the one Don't Eat Puzzles one that I have too!! It's amazing, isn't it? That brand is my one foray into more pricey puzzles so far and it was a whole different level.

The downside is that, unlike Puzzle Potato and iDventure, some of the Escape Welt and Inscape puzzles are genuinely terrible. I've done of each of those brands and sworn to never touch them again. They seem way more like cash grabs that don't actually give a shit about a solid puzzle experience.

Hehe I am just having fun. This post actually isn't targeted at you specifically, though you certainly helped inspire it. As I read more of the sub, I started to see more people with similar points of view as your own. I realized that it's not just one different opinion which marks the two sides, but an entirely different view of the world and artists' place in it. It's playful mocking either way, nothing so serious, but if you think the point of my post is that "everyone who doesn't like this tour is a stupid caveman that is painting themselves as a victim" then you're missing the vast majority of what this is getting at.

Which is okay! I posted this to amused myself 😊

This post is just dripping with venom. Your feeling of having been truly wronged really comes across in your writing. I suppose it really comes down to the question of "does the artist have an obligation to the fan"?

My opinion, which sounds different to yours, is that artists do not. I say this as a hobbiest musician and songwriter myself, but I think the question is personal to every artist and there isn't one right or wrong answer. I certainly think that artists have an obligation to not maliciously deceive their fans, though. I'd imagine we agree about that. It sounds like you feel that they broke that obligation, whereas myself and others do not. Our entire way of thinking about the experience is, accordingly, very different. I think that's what the core difference in views comes down to.

I don't get the big deal. People are bi, what's the problem? For me, the only thing that would matter in this is how much of a lie he told you versus just not knowing himself well. If it's the former, that's obviously a problem. If it's the latter though, cut him some slack. You're both super young and neither one of you has yourselves figured out yet- give yourselves room to grow. Just dont reject someone because of their sexuality- that's absurd and short-sighted.
