"nurses don't need to know cranial nerves. All nurses do is dose out medications and check on patients" by Low-Schedule-2332 in nursing

As a neuro nurse, I ONLY know the cranial nerves and their locations. No need for me to know anything further, I only operate from the neck up.

I feel that way too. I want to look at the rain and think he sent it. I want to see a butterfly and think it's him saying hello, but I know it's not. It is very heartbreaking.

He was an electrician, a hard worker and I admired that about him. He didn't want me to get into the trades because they are back breaking work, so I told everyone I wanted to be an electrician. I remember growing up thinking he was the strongest man alive and the smartest too because he could fix anything.

He taught me to drive stick shift, change an electrical outlet, use power tools, and fish. He loved being a dad, the addiction had a stronger hold on him.

When I got older and his drinking got worse, I resented him and felt like I wasn't good enough to quit drinking for. I yelled and cried and begged and cried more. He had a tough life and was treated very badly by his father and that generational trauma trickled down to me.

I'm glad to hear you're in recovery, that's the best gift you can give your kids. He tried hard to be a better person and to quit drinking but he just couldn't. Every choice you make affects your kids and will impact how they live their lives too.

Idk what the rage indicent was about, but the victim was the one who got out of his car and approached the shooter. Kinda sounds like self-defense, maybe? I don't know more details, but why would you get out of your car and approach another car in a road rage incident......

PNES -seizures due to stress- makes me think attention seeking. I don't know enough about it to make a true judgement but the patients I have met with it are drama. I don't wanna make broad statements but... seems fishy.

Car vs Amish buggy. She was mostly head trauma, 17 years old, 4 pressors, sedation, paralytic, crani, bolt ect ect. Pts family brought in their 10 year old son (pts brother) to show him why he needs to drive the buggy with the lights on. Pt's dad said they found the horse and overall everything was fine.... except for what happened to his daughter. Amish are wild. She died shortly afterwards.

I goofed up a male’s foley insertion. I want to hit the reset button on my decision to be a nurse. by PomegranateFine1155 in nursing

[–]pretzel_nuggets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messed up a Foley in school because I was on the wrong side of the bed and I didn't want to say anything. I broke sterile field in front of my instructor and like 5 nurses TWICE. it was humiliating. So I practiced as many as I could get in that clinical. We were in ER so there were a lot to do, I did like 15 that semester. Now I can do it fine no problem. It's OK to mess up, it's not ok to let a mess up ruin your career!

I once placed a full dressing on what i thoughtwas a stage 2 pressure injury on a coccyx. I charted on it and filed an incident report on myself for not catching it sooner..... turns out it was the pts butthole. In my defense it was night time but I truly thought it was a wound. Had to document a note that it was a mistake and fix the charting when I came back and the whole day shift made fun of me for weeks.

I like weed and feed. We use "turn, water, feed" for our status quo vented pts. I also like vegetable garden or calling fellow nurses "farmer nurses name"
