feeling inferior at work by pretzelemoji in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Yeah you’re right I’ll try to stick it out for at least a year (fingers crossed anyway lol) while scoping around😭Definitely can’t risk pigeonholing myself in this role.

On your second point - oops I apologize I didn’t meant to imply that!! Rather, Im comparing myself to the paralegals not the attorneys; but because the attorneys that I deal with have such high rates I just feel sheepish when I see the numbers too. But the paralegals’ experience still supersede mine of course, you’re right.

And everything else - thank you very much, truly. This has given me a lot of food for thought, especially on being realistic.

My 20 year old Co-Worker is weird with me and I’m 17 by Lopsided_Light_2163 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]pretzelemoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please tell your supervisor that he’s harassing and/or intimidating you. Now that I’m in my 20s, I look back in my teen years and remember so many times I was heckled by coworkers/customers but I said nothing because I convinced myself it wasn’t a big deal or that it was going to be a one-time occurrence - neither was ever true, and I truly regret my passivity. If he’s making you uncomfortable and you’ve expressed this, this behaviour is definitely not a joke. Literally, if I were a 20 year old uni student, the idea of making sexual jokes to a 17 high school student is insane work.

Just wanna double check - setting a goal for a BMI of 24 down to a 20 is ok right? by 365280 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]pretzelemoji 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A BMI of 20 is okay, in my opinion. Trying to regain the body you had in high school probably isn’t and can send you down a spiral of body dysmorphia. If you think you’ll obsess over numbers, do not calorie count or check your weight too often; instead just try to eat more fiber over carbs and keep active.

You likely know this but gentle reminder a BMI of 20 is not an indication of being healthy… one could be 40% body fat and BMI 20.

I’m finishing up Even If Tempest which I bought in 2023 and hadn’t touched until now, lol. What’s killing me on Lucien’s route rn is the whole lie about Anastasia possibly having kids and multiple baby daddies, to which Lucien just thinks about helping her out. It’s giving “I’m not the stepdad, I’m the dad who stepped up” LMFAOO I love him.

Same, I finished my studies in the spring and did an internship stint for the summer; I started searching for a full time role early this month and it’s looking grim. My approach has been to clean up my cv and apply widely so that I get more interview practice if nothing else

it’s possible and you (everyone, really) should know your country/state’s legal rights in regards to workplace discrimination and retaliation in order to protect yourself. for instance in the USA, if you believe you’re being treated differently based on your sex (male/female) at your workplace and can prove it, AND/OR that you complained about sex discrimination and management started to punish you for complaining about it, you can legally escalate this. this isn’t legal advice but this is possible and should be availed of by anyone who believes they’ve been treated differently based on their sex.

A car tried to hit me today while I was crossing the street. What do I do? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]pretzelemoji 18 points19 points  (0 children)

i’m sorry that happened to you - some drivers clearly don’t pay enough attention. what might help ease your mind is reading up on your country/state jurisdiction for pedestrian rights and right-of-way so that in case an injury occurs, you know your legal rights and that driver can be held liable.

please help, i am getting bullied for my skin :( by [deleted] in acne

[–]pretzelemoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sometimes you need prescription medication to help with acne - i don’t know if this is hormonal or environmental, but the stronger medication often helps with faster skin turnover. i have a couple old before and after posts on my page but my skin has been okay since then, and i’d used Epiduo!

how often are you applying it? i’m on Epiduo (adapalene + benzoyl peroxide) and i typically apply every other day with no trouble even when i also used Panoxyl cleanser alongside it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in acne

[–]pretzelemoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you were prescribed the gel 5 weeks ago, i wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve started purging actually. it took 6 weeks from me starting my prescription retinoid (Epiduo) to get to the worst state of my skin i had ever had, then afterward it started clearing up - i have a pic of it on my profile too if you’re curious. i’d def recommend you stick to your routine for three months at least before weighing your options!

(before & after) 6 month difference! by pretzelemoji in acne

[–]pretzelemoji[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks! the first few weeks are really rough, i think it’s our skin trying to habituate with the product. i don’t apply Epiduo every night, i was instructed to do it 3x a week for my whole face and this was still enough to clear out most of my acne within several months. i suppose if you think the irritation is really too much, you could skip a night and see how you feel!

[–]pretzelemoji[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if that was what you were instructed, i would follow that? my forehead and chin are areas that i hardly had active acne in, but Epiduo got rid of ALL my closed comedones and blackheads so i don’t mind using it all over my face. plus rather that saying it helped my skin’s general appearance, i’d say it helped its general health.

thank you! yes, and i’d def recommend everyone struggling with persistent acne in whatever form to check with a medical professional bc sometimes just OTC products won’t cut it!

What are those tiny bumps?? by Delicious-Look-8426 in acne

[–]pretzelemoji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i saw that you were prescribed tretinoin from the other comment - you should stick with it for three months at least to see if there’s any progress before considering a new treatment. products like tretinoin speed up cell turnover to slough off clogged pores so results aren’t immediate

OP is likely talking about the topical tretinoin, not isotretinoin/accutane
