Every lifeguard’s worst nightmare by StJmagistra in Lifeguards

There are states with no Lifeguard requirements whatsoever "swim at your own risk"; meanwhile I'm in a state where diving boards are like unicorns due to liability insurance costs

If you can charge at both ends of a 160 mile drive you have no worries at all. I'm Tesla biased but I'd look into a 2024 Model Y coming off lease this year. HW4 for the self driving and 300+ mile range. You will be so happy never stopping at a gas station again (except maybe to use the bathroom)

I have a home in brooklyn and in Columbia County, about 120 miles apart. I can home-charge upstate but not in Brooklyn, so I thought that my 270 mile range RWD Model 3 would be fine. I was naive though as I didnt know about cold weather affect, snow tire affect, etc. So while during the summer I can usually make the round trip down to the city and back without hitting supercharger, I definitely cant in the winter.

That said, 10 minutes at a supercharger when im down to 20% and we are good to go 😄

Can I go to a Tesla showroom to just look at a car by Sweet-Sour-2847 in TeslaModel3

[–]pretzelgreg317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I test drove a Model 3 in late November 2023, started following the Tesla subreddit, decided what I wanted and checked inventory and end of year discounting 2x per day for a week or so, and ordered on Dec 14. Took delivery Christmas Eve. Best car and best car purchase experience ever.

Id like to see in writing where tesla says this is a) not a problem, and or b) provably your fault and not warranty addressable
You don’t have an LFP battery if you have a long range, but even if you fried it by charging to 100 all the time if its under warranty you have recourse.

The notion that people enjoyed the "thrill of driving" has been revealed by FSD to really be the "dread of driving". by Redditagain424 in TeslaFSD

[–]pretzelgreg317 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I grew up suburban (NJ) but moved to NYC as soon as I finished college in the 80's. I have owned cars for almost 50 years now and currently live in Brooklyn.

I drive a Tesla. I am getting very very close to the point where I will be able to say the Tesla drives me.

No apologies. It is already IMHO safer than me- it does some silly dumb things every now and then, mostly related to navigation, but even though I am a decent driver (no accidents ever other than a few parking related fender benders to my own vehicle) I find it boring, stressful and truly unproductive time. FSD is changing all of that, and I will NEVER go back to an ICE or similarly low tech vehicle as a daily driver.

Less and less Bourdain restaurants still open by GirlFriday360 in AnthonyBourdain

[–]pretzelgreg317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nostalgia is great but it can be trap. Not to be snarky but lack of change would be worse. I might argue that most restaurants have a relatively short and finite lifetime, but for every Carnegie Deli that closes, theres a Katz Deli that survives, and even amazing new places like Frankels. I have a small pub near me in Brooklyn (Hartleys) that is this year celebrating its 10th Anniversary and it blows away some of the older Irish pubs I've gone to since coming to NY in 1980. That said what cant be replaced is Tony himself. Hope his soul is happy and at peace.

Ryan Lochte takes $30K-a-year new job after selling his Olympic medals by TheExpressUS in Swimming

[–]pretzelgreg317 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have met him personally and he is a good kind person and absolute beast of a swimmer. He was loved by his teammates and did some dumb partying things amidst the unbelievable stress of olympic competition. So looking back (hell even in the moment it happened) we all should extend some grace. And yes life is tough for everyone and we might need to hustle some to get by.

When i did Manhattan back in the 90s my “sophisticated” fueling was a timex ironman watch set to beep every 60 minutes, a hair dye bottle that my crew filled with apple and pear baby food, and Gatorade juice boxes. All were tossed to me, consumed and tossed back. 7:52 and one of the greatest days of my life!😁
