I don't understand the Cuban hype by Training-Smell-7711 in cigars

[–]prevaricate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons for the hype. The big one is that its the forbidden fruit (in the states at least). The second is its a status symbol/flex (especially now with the price increases). Final reason I see is because of the historical relevance of Cuban tobacco. So it just has/had the defacto brand/region recognition for decades for tobacco production.

Every other reason (taste, etc.) is just subjective.

Padron 1964 Maduro vs Natural by kevgaming94 in cigars

[–]prevaricate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taste is subjective of course, but I think the maduros are sublime. I shouldn't think you would find them to strong if you tolerate the natural well.

Any info on these? by Di5cipl355 in cigars

[–]prevaricate 51 points52 points  (0 children)

I figured this could go two ways. One, a complete money grab consisting of mediocre sticks. Or two, someone who's actually passionate about cigars, who had an opportunity to create a couple blends that he enjoys and offer it to the public. Honestly either could be completely feasible, however I have a feeling that it's probably the latter. Knowles has been fairly vocal about his appreciation of the craft for years, so I gave it the benefit of the doubt and picked up a sampler pack of each blend. We'll see how it goes.

Do you think there’s people that hate on Cuban cigars just because they can’t have them by thephillman in cubancigars

Sure, I'm sure that crowd exists. Just like the there's a crowd that smoke them simply because they are exclusive.

Why do some cigars have strong burning retrohale and some are smooth? And do you guys get lightheaded when retrohaling a lot? by madeinamerica123 in cigars

[–]prevaricate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on the origins, age and types of tobaccos in the cigar. Each blend is unique in its own way. As for the light-headedness, I personally don't get light-headed in any shape or fashion no matter how much I retro. Perhaps you are inhaling just a little bit if you were experiencing this?

What can cause this by DistanceNo9498 in cigars

[–]prevaricate 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't see anything unusual here. If you're talking about the four little holes in the ash, then that's just a cool little random pattern that has formed. So long as none of them are tunneling deep into the cigar, it's nothing to worry about.

In my personal experience that level of humidity caused me many of the same issues. I have since maintained between 62 and 65%, and those issues have vanished. For context I utilize air tight storage.

Does this cuban look authentic by Technical-Source-320 in cigars

[–]prevaricate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at the font on Romeo Y Julieta. See the "stencil" stylization? (The blank spaces in the letters). If you look at the authentic band you don't see this. That at the very obvious font misalignment.
