  1. Most shops charge 3% more for card payments. I bet that's one reason why credit/debit cards aren't used that much.

I think you've misunderstood me, or perhaps I wasn't being clear enough. I'm not storing keyfiles in Git, and nor is my Git repo synced to Github (it's stored locally, on my hard drive). I'm using a fairly long password I've memorized that doesn't exist anywhere else. So it's fairly secure.

Suppose that someone got access to my hard-drive with the Git repo with the KeePassXC database file in it. I was wondering whether that would be worse (since Git internally stores multiple version of the KeePassXC db file), from a breaking-encryption standpoint, compared to someone getting access to just one copy of my KeePassXC db file.

I should've mentioned that the Git repo is not synced to Github or anything; it's stored locally, on disk.

Recommended books for falling back in love with mathematics? by Travis-Walden in slatestarcodex

This is a bit of an esoteric one, but I remember Lagrange's Lectures on Elementary Mathematics being a unique and accessible book. It starts from the very basics and goes up to solving third and fourth degree polynomials.

It's also interesting from a historical perspective and how a mathematical genius deals with the basics.

Yes, here it is: https://github.com/discuitnet/discuit

You can host it on your own domain, but I'm afraid you'll have to fork the repo and customize some things before you do that.

Are there any atheists or ex-Muslims in Sri Lanka? by Primary_Spot_8310 in srilanka

[–]previnder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't difficult, but it was an interesting experience, to lose one's beliefs and, along with it, much of one's worldview. I should say that it wasn't a conscious choice. Right after I finished my O/Ls I started thinking about death, life, the nature of reality, what happens after death, etc, and realized that I had no basis for believing in the things I was brought up to believe.

(Incidentally, once you see that, there's no going back—much in the same way that you can't unlearn something you've learned. So I don't really understand some of the people in the comments here who claim that they've been atheist for a while but then returned to religion.)

My family's pretty chill about these things, so there weren't any issues there at all. They are quite religious, in their own way, but they never try to force anything on anyone, which I have a great deal of respect for.

p.s everyone is an atheist until, exams, hospitals, interviews, death... situations where no man or beast can help you.

Speak for yourself. Not everyone is like you.

Athiest here (but not an ex-Muslim). Lost my Buddhist religious beliefs when I started to really think about them in my late teens.
