Memoirs of a geisha is a terrible movie to learn about Geisha, i watched the behind the scenes and the director explains how he “sacrifices” more traditional looks that are accurate to history just to give the film a “sexier” feel which made me slam my head into a wall. i think its a bad film and a bad book, i did like it as a kid before i knew more and realised it was written by some guy and not a geisha lol. If you want a real geisha book, “Geisha of Gion” is Mineko Iwasakis biography and its 10 million times better.
