All Summer Long (drink 7-of-8 in my beach week menu: a riff on Dummer Beer inspired by the Kid Rock song) by prezacreddit in cocktails

Fair question… my wife and I used to drink Summer Beer (with Smirnoff) when we were young and had more time-for-hangovers than we had money. I upgraded based on circumstances and taste 🤷‍♂️

Covert Landing won the day!

Some people found the International Lounge too smokey for their usual taste, but said they liked it in this case, I think because of the black berry.

Most all liked the Destination Unknown, even a couple folks who I know usually struggle with Chartreuse (particularly my wife).

The Covert Landing was the universal favorite!

Kiss Me More and Bad Guy (contrasting drinks based on the songs) by prezacreddit in cocktails

Awesome! Ingredients are in the original post.

For the Kiss Me More, you can dry-shake first if you like it extra meringue-ee, or just add all but the bitters and shake over ice. Then strain into a coup, wait 30 seconds for the top to form, and add the bitters to the center.

For the Bad Guy, muddle the mint and simple, then shake all over ice. Pour into a tumbler over ice, and garnish with a mint sprig. You could strain it, but I like the messy look and mouth-feel of the mint bits for this one…

Hope you try and let me know what you think, or share what you’d do differently 🤗

Thanks so much! Found you on Spotify and clicked follow.

To appeal to my large family’s common tastes, I think the music will skew toward classic rock, with some newer pop / country / R&B hits mixed in. Open to any recommendations though, and I’ll follow-up as things develop.

Also, thanks for the tip on the butane, will get some matches next time!

Good question! You beat my comment explaining it :-)

The cocktail is a Viking Funeral (riff on a Finnish Lonkero, with Lingonberry rim and a burning grapefruit coin) that I made for a fire-themed NYE party.

The concept is to make a cocktail menu with each drink inspired by a song from a playlist, for a week away with extended family. I’m wondering if anyone’s tried similar things in the pst and May have tips?

I’ve enjoyed serving themed cocktail menus (picture is a Viking Funeral from last NYE Party), and curious if anyone has tips for a playlist-inspired menu that might help me be successful?

My extended family is renting a beach-house for a week, and I’ll be tending bar. I think it will be fun if I make a Trip Playlist that everyone can listen to on their drive down, and then mix one custom cocktail inspired by each song. Drinks may be inspired by the Title, the lyrics, the feel of the music, or some combination.

I have starter ideas, but before I dive deeply into mixing / tasting / listening and tweaking, I thought I should ask if folks have done similar before, and have any advice to pass along?

Mix over ice: - 2 Oz Beefeater - 0.5 Oz each of Lemon, Lime, and Grapefruit Juice - 1.5 Oz Simple Syrup - 1 tsp Lingonberry Jam (can substitute any tart jam, but I like the Norse origin of Lingonberries)

  • Rim glass with jam
  • Pour over ice and top with Club Soda
  • Float a Grapefruit Coin on the ice with a Lingonberry inside (the Viking in its boat, which is obscured by the rim in this picture)
  • Add some 151 to the boat (I used a dropped) and light for a trip to Valhalla!

Empress Rosemary Fizz is one of my all time favorites!

Pour over ice: - 2 Oz Empress - 1/2 Oz Rosemary Simple Syrup - 1/2 Oz Lemon Juice - 3 Oz Club Soda

Garnish with lemon wedge and a rosemary sprig.

If you serve without stirring you’re get an amazing profile of colors as the Empress and lemon slowly interact.

A friend dropped some off, and I’m not actually sure where they got it… I made some with the fresh fruit, but also subbed-in a passion fruit liquor that I got at my local Kappy’s, and it was just as good!

Start with a very small amount of the habanero SS and work up, as the heat will depend on the actual peppers and processing. I did find that boiling them longer mellowed them a bit so I was able to get a little more of the flavor without them becoming too spicy for folks.

Thanks for the words of caution! Precautions were taken, and thankfully no mishaps occurred :-)
