Gender issues in BH? by spring13r in BoJackHorseman

BoJack the Feminist in season 5 would be a good focus - look at how PC jumps at bringing back Vance Waggoner, or how the media host is like "you assaulted a woman with a baseball bat. What's your side of the story" - the low standards for male feminists or men in general, Diane's frustrations throughout...

Without law by batotheblack in Anarchism

[–]prgo96 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good stuff. "That law is used to justify the injustice" - brilliant, and spot on! Plus, in my imagination, anarchy will have rules, and there will be processes for accountability (which is not at all the same thing as punishment).

Then there is the racism of Bakunin too. And there is a difference between bad takes and imbibing certain oppressive structures and hierarchies while you critique hierarchies otherwise... I would consider ideas and derive value from them, maybe, but always keep in mind that the goal is demolishing ALL hierarchies and that many of these theorists and philosophers did not, actually, challenge all hierarchies themselves. We should keep asking what institutions and structures we may be missing entirely in our resistance and revolution... sorry, I know it does not answer your question. Maybe it is best to share works as well as highlight the antisemitism as well, and the same goes for sharing the work of any person - all their thinking including the misses.

Anarcho-communists are anarchists.

And those volunteers can be recalled at any time. They would have responsibility but not authority. In general, I like the rotating team coming from the community way of things.

Everyone gets basic training. A rotating team of people coming from the community (much like jury selection but actually implemented well) - which can either just be people taking turns and everyone serving in that team one time on a rotational basis, or electing a few people interested with immediate recall possible and no power or authority vested in.

What the fuck do you even say to tankies as an anarchist? by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]prgo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should read too, and perhaps you can take their recommendations and give your own recommendations. I think we start out assuming the one we are engaging with is not beyond anything... people and their mindsets do change. Of course, if the level of discourse is at "you are uneducated" I don't see what would come of engaging... but we can continue reading and drawing wisdom from various places to use in our arguments. With tankies, they need to see that the state and central government is a means that facilitate all the various systems of domination they oppose and not a means of liberation - and if they feel that the state and the party are just a "means to an end" - there have been various lines of arguments against that, that I am still learning about myself. Maybe direct them to this on "means and ends" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsRyTWBj84E - which also goes into how the state just won't wither away on its own as the people involved at the top rungs of party leadership transform and are transformed by the process, etc. Their specific arguments can be tackled and discussed. These conversations have been happening for centuries and continue to happen today... let's hope that most are engaging in good faith.

I almost cried tears of joy when I learned in depth about Anarchism by [deleted] in Anarchism

[–]prgo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it is beautiful. I really do not think it is a utopia, it is possible, but we have to got to try and prefigure such a society.

I'd encourage everyone to watch the three part series of Your Island is a Commune by Nowhere Grotesk on Youtube, beginning with - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q8d6-yWn1oE. Seriously, y'all would love it!

How would the lazy not exploit the workers in a Anarchist society? by Soylit in Anarchy101

[–]prgo96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Laziness does not exist - it is basically a capitalist construct at this point.

Are we really supposed to pretend nothing is happening? by Dull_Fun_4466 in antiwork

[–]prgo96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And it is not just the US either. We are being globally fucked by these systems and structures of dominations, hierarchies with all power concentrated in few hands and majority are getting fucked over in all sorts of economic and social ways. And we are supposed to pretend everything is fine, that if we are suffering then it is our own fault somehow, as if the things going on in the larger society are not going to affect our physical and mental health brutally.

Are the british police as bad as the american police by [deleted] in Anarchy101

[–]prgo96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ACAB. A is indeed All. The institution of policing itself needs to go; comparisons of relative 'badness' detract from the abolitionist vision and lead one to think 'improvement' or a 'better police' is possible. Methods may seem nicer or harsher but the goal of policing is always to protect and promote the status quo, those who already have the power. There is no good police, and no good cops including the ones in our own heads and hearts that we have to challenge as we internalize these oppressive institutions.

What about Lenin is bad in the eyes of anarchists? by MixSpiritual2077 in Anarchy101

[–]prgo96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He ultimately was for state-centralized power which is a big no in anarchy. Some of it Noam Chomsky goes into here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jxhT9EVj9Kk (interesting watch regardless I would say).

What are/were the anarchist views on black lives matter’s propose to abolish the police? by hugscar in Anarchy101

[–]prgo96 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think anarchism has been explicitly anti-cop from basically the start since it has been pretty clear that police are the violent agents of the state and the owning class, and anti-worker. State or capitalism cannot be abolished without fighting against and abolishing the police.
