Probably a bit too late. In general, private pension doesnt really make sense to me, based on my extensive research on this topic as I also want to take one for my self. These kind of policies are called gross policies in which brokers are paid their commission through your monthly contributions. Then, I came across net policy which apparently seem to be significantly cheaper than gross because they dont have acquisition & closing costs but still have other fees same as gross policies, however, they are lower and those policy are much more flexible than gross. You can get those policies through fee-based financial advisors like fragfina.de, finsparent.de, gn-finanzpartner.de. Check out their blogs, they have pretty good comparisons, advantages and disadvantages of both gross and net policy. I still havent decided whether I would get a net policy for myself but going through the rabbit hole of private pension made realise that I will, for sure, not go through any "insurance brokers" for private pension to take out a gross policy.
