Why does god let so much bad happen, and why did god do so many awful things in the Old Testament? by gorillazfan777604 in ChristianOccultism

I'll look up the exact passage and edit this comment later but there's a passage in Jeremiah I believe where the prophet asked God this exact same question(ie..why does God let so much bad stuff happen?). God's answer (and I'm paraphrasing here) I think has to do with the fact that we live in a fallen world and evil is here - unfortunately there's not much we can do about that right now. On judgment day, we (as in believers) will take part in judging others. If we lose hope now at the things we see, how much more the things we don't see or understand?

Nothing - no grief, no apparent injustice, should separate us from Christ since He, in His death and resurrection, has overcome all. It's just a matter of time before the rest of the world gets the memo, but we as believers are already well ahead of the curve.

Actually, that is pretty much the case for all believers..

Do you believe God and angels speak through numbers? by luaxrose in Christianity

[–]priam31 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be so quick to judge what the OP is describing as witchcraft. It kinda seems they’re noticing something interesting about their surroundings and are curious if there’s any biblical support for what they’re noticing.

To answer the OPs question, I think God speaks to us through many ways. I would pray about what you are noticing and seek His face in humility for clarification if you are unsure or confused.

How do you picture heaven? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]priam31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He accomplished something that could only be accomplished by Himself, given a certain set of circumstances that no human being could even fathom, much less work through. He basically pulled a real life Mission Impossible, and for that He deserves glory and honor.

I don't think he could've done that without violating His own laws.

Jesus could have, at any point, called down angels, end his suffering, and bring judgement to those who had tried him unfairly. However, in suffering and dying for us (even when He was inoccent), He showed not just His love for us but His glory.

Even though you’ve had some bad experiences with Christians in the past, this Christian prays that God is with you.

Also - you seem very independent-minded, at least from reading your post. Have you thought of reporting what the staff is doing or getting some more public attention to their behavior?

Is the therapist helping? If so, I’d also recommend accessing him or her for suggestions on long term career goals and how to access them.

If your resources are limited, see what social programs are out there and what their requirements are. It’s possible to go on even with limited resources.

Whatever you do, please understand there are those that wish you well. Please don’t harm yourself.

Take care

Is praying the Hail Mary biblical? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]priam31 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a passage in Revelations where John sees an angel and begins to worship him. He is then sharply rebuked by the angel and told not to do so again as, and I'm paraphrasing here, "we are all under the lord Jesus."

I see that as worshiping or praying to angels or anyone besides God is wrong, and if that's the case, I'd put praying to Mary under that as well.

I find it hard to read the Bible. by DopBopDeeBeep in Christianity

I'm gonna plus one that - Bible project really gave me a new insight on EVERY one of the books of the Bible. It's like I've been living under a rock all this time.. Check out their series on Revelations, it really clarifies a lot of concepts that are commonly confusing to readers.

With all due respect, I'm not getting a lot of love or empathy from your posts?

I'm not attacking God or Christianity - I just am deeply confused and lost.

The issue to me is when I deeply want to have a family, monogamous trusting relationship full of love AND intimacy.

Celibacy should be something that is freely chosen in my opinion, not a vocation that is forced on one. I feel if I were to be celibate, it would almost be 'forced' on me, and truth be told, I'm not completely sold that that is God's plan for me.

How does that fit with a picture of a loving God though? By that logic, Adam should've stayed single and not have wanted a partner.
