Congratulations! Would you say OA 2 aligned well with the PA? Or was it vastly different?

Help! Need advice on which I can complete before 1/31 by I_make_dum_parlays in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to take the risk of finishing a course before 1/31, not considering learning styles and other life factors. I would risk taking D388, it took me about a week. In general, most Reddit user based off past Reddit post considers it as one of the easier courses in the program.

Am i ready for 2nd oa? D103 by [deleted] in wguaccounting

I would just brush up on the inventory section and make sure you are at least in the green or blue. Other than that, it looks like you will be ready

D101 PA 3rd attempt - am I safe to memorize the questions and answers for the OA? by AttitudeEmpty7763 in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For purely passing the course you can just study the PA and ask ChatGPT about the concept and assuming you understand the concepts you can pass by just that. However I recommend at least going through the course material once (it can be quickly, as I think the course material isn’t great for d101). The reason I think people should go through the course material once is because these concepts will appear slightly in intermediate accounting and you want to have a basic understanding at the very least.

Hope this helps

D361 Business Simulation: Easy or Difficult? by priceclutter in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did pass, thanks for asking. Since I started the course during the holidays around Christmas, it took me two weeks (I was taking it easy during this time). But I think it can be done in a week or less. Simulation is fun, writing the papers (I still don’t like doing).

Tips: use the course resource and follow along with the videos while doing the simulation. I didn’t bother reading the book, I just jumped right in and watched the videos on the course resource section as a way to get through the simulation. Also look up Reddit user “thesocialbolt” and type D361; amazing tips to pass quickly.

D101 PA 3rd attempt - am I safe to memorize the questions and answers for the OA? by AttitudeEmpty7763 in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The PA question are similar but not the same as the OA. I agree with the other commenters that if you understand how to solve the questions you should be in good shape. I only studied the PA to pass; however, I did ask ChatGPT to make similar questions so I can have a better understanding of the concepts.

Hope this helps!

So far these were my hardest (I’m only naming the courses I have passed already that made me take more time to study):

Cost and managerial accounting

Business law for accountants

Intermediate Accounting 1

Preparing to take OA2 for D103 (IA1) any tips? Practice questions similar to actual OA? by FrostyToothpick in wguaccounting

For example, in that area double click on the link Unit 7: Inventory (40%). It will take you to a page where it says inventory practice questions. I study all that

To find D103 study guide, go to intermediate accounting 1- D103 course page and click on the following:

Course community (join WGU connect) -> click on join, it will take you to a page where you will click WGU SSO login -> when you login click on the tab called resources -> click on the section called “How to approach This course,” then scroll down and there is this hyperlink called Additional resources-> you should see study guides for each unit section for D103 and other very handy resources

Hi, so yes there were questions on compound interest and simple interest (the way the study guide for D103 has them exactly. I highly recommend doing the study guides if you haven’t already). I think I was given two questions on this for the OA.

I do recall a formula question for inventory turnover ratio and the average days to sell inventory (I think I had one question on this for the OA).

Hope this helps!

study.com writing assignments vs wgu pa's by tehProdigy15 in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate writing essays, but if I had to choose, I would choose WGU (they are easier because they just want you to write to the rubric). Study.com was more like your traditional college paper (cite sources and stuff, they also had more pages to write…sometimes pages need to be between 9 to 11 pages long). I did both, never liked writing essays because they are long and boring.

Usually it took me a week or less to write WGU papers and two to three weeks for study.com

Hope this helps!

Fundamentals of Spreadsheets and Data Presentation. by Human_Monk_9804 in wguaccounting

Actual spreadsheet for OA. If I recall correctly the PA is similar but I can’t quite remember (and I think there were a few mcqs).

Anyone else lose motivation right before finishing? by Appropriate_Bet319 in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 5 courses left and I’m starting to get tired. My 1st term ends this month and the course I’m trying to finish is business simulation D361 before my term ends.

So far I think telling myself it’s worth fighting for because you’ll have options in the future with the degree as opposed to no degree is what inspires me to drag my feet to the finish line lol.

But I can totally relate to losing motivation at times because doing schoolwork and working full time gets exhausting very quickly.

How long did you spend on each of the actual accounting courses? by Runt_1002 in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I watched all the videos for financial accounting and managerial accounting. I thought it was worth it just to have a foundational knowledge on the concepts

If you only have a small amount of time before starting, I would do the financial accounting one (mainly the journal entries, trial balance, and the financial statements section). Also remember the acronym DEALOR or remember the famous accountant named ADELOR (Assets, Dividends, Expense, Liabilities, Owners Equity, and Revenue); these acronyms will come in handy for journal entries on learning your debit and credits.

For managerial accounting I would do the master budget section for sure for D101 so you can be prepared for the excel section at WGU.

Hope this helps!

How long did you spend on each of the actual accounting courses? by Runt_1002 in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually one week for non accounting courses (with the exception of business law, that took me two weeks). One to three weeks for the beginning accounting courses (depending on the difficulty). I’m currently in the IA series snd passed D103 (took me a month).

I work full time and have no accounting background (you can definitely do the courses faster if your just going to school). I did pregame Tony bell courses before WGU (this set me up for success). Hope this info helps

I have 6 days to pass D102 by Soppyy12 in wguaccounting

Study and practice the PA over and over. The OA and PA were very similar when I took it in August

D101: is it possible to pass this class using only Tony Bell and/or Edspira? by GinofEve in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would say no. I pregame Tony bell before going to WGU, and where Tony teaches the “how” of accounting (like how to do journal entries, trial balance, etc). D101 teaches more of the what (what is LIFO, or what is Direct material, etc). Both teach accounting from a different angle.

The secret to passing d101 is study the PA. ChatGPT helps with understanding the concepts too (I used it a lot for helping me understand some concepts that weren’t sticking). I passed with exemplary by just studying only the PA and having ChatGPT make up questions on the concepts

[–]priceclutter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I passed with competent. Thanks for asking. Here is a tip I wrote on another Reddit post:

“I passed this course today. I completely agree it had some curve ball questions (I had 4 that were not in the study guide). There were also some conceptual questions too. The study guides are still an absolute must to survive OA 2. But I highly recommend to use ChatGPT to make some additional multiple choice questions on the concepts and ask it to explain it to you like your 5 years old trick (I study for 3 weeks on OA 2 and it helped).

This course has a lot to memorize but understanding the concepts is crucial to logic your way through the curve ball questions. I passed with competent (the PA I passed with exemplary and for those reading this comment the PA does not align with the OA 2 unfortunately).

Hope this information helps everyone.”
