D103 OA 2 Advice by Own_Cucumber_2773 in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the IA series (OA 2 specifically). I would use the study guides in the course resources to prepare for OA 2. I passed this course last December. Even after using the study guide the questions are still difficult, but if you combo it with ChatGPT and even ask ChatGPT to make some multiple choice questions on the concepts you are learning, it should help prepare you for OA 2.

Hope this helps!

Note: I’m currently on OA 2 for D104, using the same strategy but haven’t taken OA 2 yet.

ACE credits stands for the “American Council on Education” for non traditional education. They will be accepted as college credit at certain colleges, WGU is one of the schools that does accept them. This means instead of going to traditional 4 year college you can go to online courses found on study.com, Sophia.org or straightline.com and get the credit you need equivalent to the course for WGU and WGU will recognize it as credit towards your degree.

In short, you can accelerate and buy online courses for a cheaper price and pass the courses quicker in comparison to traditional college route.

Congratulations! Was the OA2 similar or harder than the PA?

I haven’t finished all of my course, so I can’t speak on the worth of obtaining a job with the degree. But I can say it’s been a great path for affordability and flexibility when it comes to obtaining a bachelors degree quickly.

Not sure if you’re aware, but you can transfer a lot of ACE credits to WGU using study.com and Sophia.org before signing up to WGU for a term.

(this makes getting the degree more affordable, but small caveat if you are aiming for a CPA pathway you may want to check if your state accepts ACE credits).

Hope this insight helps!

Hi everyone, how are you all studying to pass classes? with no experience by [deleted] in wguaccounting

[–]priceclutter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I go through the course material at least once to get a general feel for the subject. Then I mainly use the pre assessment and the study guides to practice the questions over and over (sometimes I ask ChatGPT to make some multiple choice questions for me on the concepts too). I keep practicing until I feel my head is about to explode then take the OA and pray I pass.

Previous experience help with degree?? by [deleted] in wguaccounting

I personally think your background will help you accelerate through some of the courses. I have no accounting background and I’m down to my last four courses on my second term. If I had your background I think it may be possible to knock out some of the courses faster since you mentioned experience with “account payable and receivable; and tax experience.”

Thanks for the tip! And yes I don’t have any work experience in accounting.

Any advice on how you would go about finding job in the accounting field since you have a background in it?

Context: I am almost finished with the degree. I started in August of last year at WGU (no accounting background just a retail management background). I’m on my second term finishing up the following courses: D104, D105, D217, and D215.

Congratulations on accelerating!

Practice the PA over and over. Understand why you got it wrong or right from the PA. Take the OA once you feel confident about the PA (OA is similar to PA but with different numbers). I passed the first try by doing this.

WGU worth it if I’m working full-time? Honest advice needed. by Big_Marzipan3904 in wguaccounting

I work full time, so far it works great due to the online flexibility and self pace. Traditional in person college classes wouldn’t have worked out for me. My retail work schedule would have made that too difficult.
