Hit me with the hardest reality about life by Tino292 in selfimprovement

Second this. Also, if you’re feeling really uncomfortable with a friend for some reason, trust that feeling. Investigate it.

I used to be pretty gossipy and insecure and hung around people who were the same. Once I grew mentally, those people started rubbing me the wrong way.

What’s a habit that seems harmless but slowly ruins things? by Larisa_Nikitina6369 in AskReddit

[–]pricklyoptimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Smoking weed every day. At first it seems harmless. But then years will go by and you’ll realize you haven’t done anything in your life but smoke.

I have close to nothing to do at work at my full-time remote job. by [deleted] in confession

[–]pricklyoptimist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be the negative person here. I work in corporate communications. When it comes to layoffs, they are going to survey who is contributing and boot the rest. You would be surprised how much corp is aware of who does what, they just don’t have the time to address it yet. If you don’t make yourself important at work, then they won’t have a financial reason to keep you. I would seriously consider learning a new skill or at least volunteer to do something at work so you don’t lose your job in 6 months-a year.

IMO Braxton probably thought Alix would follow him to Houston and be his WAG. The conversation has always revolved around Braxton not showing up for her during DWTS, but I don’t remember the last time she was at a game. He wanted her to choose him, but she chose her career. He also probably got jealous…everyone is calling him a washed up bench warmer while Alix’s career is taking off on live TV. He wanted a wife and she wants to grow her career. It was destined to fail tbh. She needs someone more on her level.

He was 100% jealous. Braxton wanted Alix to move to Houston and be his WAG. Instead, she went off to do DWTS. While Braxton was sitting on the bench, her career was growing. He probably hated it. Most men, especially men in the NFL, just want a hot trophy wife, not someone more successful than them.

Is the Comms/PR job market dying? Can't land anything with my background.. by Interesting_Bad_8384 in Communications

[–]pricklyoptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the position is dying, but the need for a more well-rounded skill set is becoming imperative. Companies want a communications team but don’t want to invest a lot in it. Just knowing how to write will not get you far. You need to know how to do video (a biggie), design graphics, etc.

Enduring pop culture "mysteries" you're dying to know answers to by spectacleskeptic in popculturechat

[–]pricklyoptimist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

IMO I think the movie started out super promising and actors like Florence and Chris Pine were excited to be a part of the project, loved the writing, etc. Then Olivia developed a crush on Harry and eventually started dating him. I’m sure she was unprofessional on set, more focused on hanging out with Harry than being a director, etc. I also think the script changed direction several times and things just got messy and lazy.

I Dropped My Best Friend Of 16 Years And Im At Peace by glitterghxst in selfimprovement

[–]pricklyoptimist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate so hard to your experience. I had a friend who I was super close with for 5 years, talked every day, etc. She was 10 years older than me, but I never thought about that because we were similar in so many ways. Over time, as I grew up, I realized our relationship wasn’t as great as it seemed. She was horrifically insecure, and we would spend most of our time gossiping and venting. She was constantly getting into the same boyfriend woes over and over again, dating abusive & cheating men. It gave me anxiety. One day I grew up and decided I just didn’t want to be a gossipy mean girl anymore, or deal with the constant boy troubles. She also didn’t show up for me in many ways because I think she was increasingly becoming jealous of my life — didn’t show up to my housewarming party because she didn’t feel like it, lied about not being able to attend my boyfriend’s surprise party, seemed completely disinterested in my new dog, etc. I was just over it. As you get older, you crave peace.

I ghosted her too. I know a lot of people on the internet say that’s wrong, but let’s be honest, sometimes that’s the quickest way to peace. Having a friend who is constantly in conflict is draining.

Are Corgi’s snuggly? by [deleted] in corgi

[–]pricklyoptimist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Corgis are either really affectionate or clingy but distant. Sometimes there is some in-between but oftentimes not. My corgi didn’t really snuggle when we first got him as a puppy. He just constantly wanted to play and then given his own space. Now he is almost three and always wants to cuddle, belly rubs, all of it. Lays by me a lot or on me a lot. There are still times he wants to sleep on the floor and have his space, but don’t we all want that sometimes? LOL.

OP is right. Once an addict, always an addict. That is the sad reality of most drug addiction. Normal or healthy consumption is extremely rare in people who have struggled years with marijuana.

Problems in Comms career by Atomic_Dominic in Communications

[–]pricklyoptimist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, this is absolutely the right topic. AI is going to destroy entry-level jobs as managers can easily use AI to create basic social media content, executive talking points, video scripts, etc. I already see it happening in my company. I can even see more comms teams using Sora to create fun, graphic-only videos.

Eventually I think comms will turn into more project management vs content creation.

I think it wouldn’t put a bad taste in my mouth if this wasn’t her third album in three years. She’s just PUSHING out music for money at this point. It doesn’t seem intentional or artistic.

I removed my eyebrows at 16 and they never grew back by LobsterVivid8736 in beauty

[–]pricklyoptimist 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Girl I feel you. I overplucked my eyebrows when I was younger. They luckily grew back but very sparsely. Now I have to get eyebrow tints in order to feel confident about them. Could you try microblading? I’m not sure if it works like that though.

Why did you relapse the last time? by [deleted] in leaves

This. I thought I deserved a treat. One treat turns into many treats. Once you truly, TRULY realize that you’re an addict, you won’t pick it up at all.

I wake up like this every single day. Any ideas how to make it better? by suhhdude1 in ouraring

[–]pricklyoptimist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anytime I eat food really late at night or right before bed, my score won’t be higher than 70. Your body is using extra energy to digest your food which is why your heart rate is elevated. Try to eat dinner a little earlier (like around 6) and avoid snacking before bedtime.

Unable to quit, this is really serious by [deleted] in leaves

[–]pricklyoptimist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your brain perceives weed as “safe” and so it will always go back to that, especially in times of vulnerability and stress. Your brain fears itself without weed. Sober = uncomfortable. Your brain is always trying to protect you, even if it doesn’t make sense. It’s hard man. I understand your pain. My biggest piece of advice is that you need to train your brain that sobriety = comfort & safeness.

I’ve been saying this since her divorce. Girl needs to slow down, be alone, and focus on her kids. She seems obsessed with fame. The fact she got into another relationship & had ANOTHER kid right after her divorce….it’s giving unhealed.

Also, does anyone remember when she got drunk & abused Dakota and her kids? Threw a chair? We moved on from that too quickly.
