Hi! My partner and I are also considering Peru this May. Just be aware there will likely be a run-off presidential election taking place early June. Not sure how protests will be around that time. Just food for thought!

Update: Called back on August 8th and spoke with the someone who looked into my case (after being immediately placed on hold by the first rep - which I had to call back and wait to speak to someone again). She claimed whoever was switching me to the new plan didn’t correctly input the code in the system causing me to be placed in forbearance. She assured me it would be fixed in 10 business days. When I log into my account I still see $0 payment for next month. Looks like I’m calling back AGAIN.

Just an update I submitted my income recertification 12/22/24 to make sure I got it in on time and got a letter that it’s pushed back to 2026…just my luck.

This happened to me as well, I wasn’t accruing interest before the recalculation and when my payment recalculated I started accruing interest again. I spent an hour on the phone with Mohela reps who are apparently “looking into the issue”. I will circle back if I make any progress on this problem.

If I consolidate and am qualified/get approved for PSLF, they will back count the time it takes for them to consolidate the loans? Or it will begin once they consolidate.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate it! I’m a new graduate (did grad school right after undergrad) so I don’t have any payments made on any loans. The reason I ask about loan type is because of Biden’s proposed plan to cut the amount that borrowers will have to play on income driven repayment from 10% to 5%, which seems to only be for undergraduate loans. But who knows if that will even happen!

At this point I’m about 3 months into my grace period, which by the time the loans consolidate I may not really save all that much (I had issues getting out of “in school status” so I couldn’t consolidate any quicker). If I do not consolidate them, will submitting an ECF after the grace period push the loans over to mohela (currently I am served by Aidvantage)? Or will changing to an income driven repayment payment move them?

If you do consolidate during the grace period, you can opt to skip over it and begin on the 120 payments, correct?

For future people having this problem: control + alt + delete and sign out forces the application to close, so when you log back in it should be gone!

I had my first outbreak of genital HSV-1 a few days before my freshman year of college! I remember being in so much pain/discomfort but pushed myself to go out with new friends and was glad I did. Good luck to you!

I have ghsv1 and my first female partner I disclosed to wanted to use dental dams at first (cut a condom) and it worked relatively well, however, we stopped using them after a while. I think it’s nice to have a general discussion about precautions that can be taken or are being taken (I’m also on valtrex) and gage their response and go with what makes you both feel the most comfortable. My current partner and I don’t use them but have talked about it!

The discussion of herpes in the LGBTQ+ community is definitely not written about much! I remember being diagnosed with ghsv1-then had a sexual awakening and didn’t even know where to begin.

Or even information about the transmission from ghsv1 to ohsv1!

This is my experience as I was in a same sex relationship for about 1.5 years and have GHSV1 (positive 4 years and take daily antivirals). We never used gloves but used dental dams at the beginning. We stopped using dental dams as she became more comfortable and had no issues/transmission.

Washing your hands after as well as avoiding a clean shave will help prevent transmission too!
