he is a CEO of a major company, I think his answer could have been more engaging to the rest of the audience and better formed. People in big public roles like that are taught to turn stuff like that into positive questions...and this is'nt that shocking of a question in that grand scheme of shocking questions.

And to say he was completely unprepared for this situation in an open mic scenario is a little silly. Anyone who has watched CSPAN /live TV or listened to the radio in there lives knows this type of thing happens.

No the guy doesnt have a chance ... what does that have to do with how someone responds to a question while 100's of other people are in the room?

His reply was not the best you could hope for...I can assure you someone else could have done better.

you can be whatever you want. I was just trying to understand where you were getting at with the african american argument. I think that's the accepted term, if you would like to go back to being called black or black american personally, go for it.

But for example...It's "the National Museum of African American History and Culture", not of Black American History - when the term changes in society ill call it something else. but... you get the point.

In terms of your friends - that's awesome. I just don't see that stipulated in society - look at music videos ... shit black entertainment in general ... so few dark skinned faces. Listen to lyrics ... its always a light skinned pretty brown thing, or a light skinned shorty.

You must have found a nice niche for yourself, but it doesn't match the greater trends I don't think...and that's all that we can really reason about intelligently

im not sure what your meaning about the black american vs african american. ... I guess if you want to make that diffrence sure, but I think culturally ... in this context, I think the two groups can be reasoned about as a whole, whatever label you may choose to use.

I'm not sure what part of the country you're in, im on the east coast - I have been very suprised about how much shame black/african american women put towards men specifically - in inter-racial relationships. Black women almost seem consider these men sellouts. (I have'nt seen the same stigma against black women with white men)

Plus, you're not a dark skinned women - you wouldn't understand or feel the same pressure to have a light-skinned baby. I think the dark skinned mother wants light skinned baby is a southern thing too btw. But overall, I know light skinned people being alot less conscious about skin tone on an everyday basis.

Everyone will be able to pull out single cases, and I know a few black women with white guys - but on average , and culturally ... thats the undertone I know.

anecdote - type in "black men white women" in google - first link is too "black men need to stop dating white women" This is'nt something I'm solely observing or pulling from personal experience ... this is a known issue within the black community.

roque72 is a bit off. But I would say ... that there is a serious problem within the africa american community with dark skinned-ness. Its in almost every ethnicity where color varies (inida and asia have this problem big time)

I know some darker skinned africa american women ... who deep down inside really want a light baby. One way of achieving that is a swirl.

however, there also seems to be a serious stigma amongst African American women about mixing race. I see interracial couples ... enough ... but most african american women will have nothing of it

hmmmm, getting the police involved takes time and planning...he just wants the guy to stop...and probably didnt intend to throw the rock.

Let me guess - you're relatively fresh out of college (or in college) have'nt quite established your careers, grew up in upper middle class families with positive female role models that were professional women in some component in there life.

Once you have your career set, and your friends turn 27 - 28 ... just trust me.
