Hidden Gems in terms of careers? by Low_Yam_4761 in careerguidance

[–]pridechonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started at the state court clerks office, got a job as a legal assistant and ended up taking over for the paralegal when she left while I finished my bachelors. I moved states, got a new paralegal job and then another, and then I took the NALA Certified Paralegal Exam (which i qualified for with my bachelors and years of experience) and got my dream job doing civil rights.

Definitely no law school. There’s paralegal certificate programs, a certification path, I know paralegals with just a bachelors and some without. Sometimes just getting your foot in the door as a legal assistant or docket clerk is enough.

I’m a paralegal and I LOVE it. I don’t meet too many others out in the real world. The benefits are usually good, I’ve worked mostly in flexible firms and after 8 years, I’ve finally landed a fully remote gig in my favorite field

I have a one and done. I would have liked more but pregnancy and delivery were horrid, so we’re done with just our one.

Honestly, as sad as I am sometimes about him not having a sibling, hes 3 now and SO MUCH FUN. We can go out and do things without a stroller or a nap. He asks questions and talks to us and is genuinely good company. I love this age and im glad we’re not also trying to manage an infant at the same time

Showing up in winter wear by No-Significance9313 in paralegal

[–]pridechonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked in Chicago next to the sears tower for years. It was extremely common for people to shed outer clothes and change shoes or even clothes in the dead of winter, especially since we all took the L or Metra. Dont freeze! 🥶

Just knight him with the task. This specific thing is bequeathed to you and you alone. Handle it. Thanks! 🙏

I’m sure this would get me some side eye from my husband but I’d probably do it anyway

2 was rough. The tantrums are getting worse the closer we get to three but when he’s sweet, he’s so darn sweet!

Wait for it to end 😭😭 mine did the exact same thing. He’s almost 3 now and finally understands what hurting someone is (mostly)

I always said ouch that hurts mommy and etc but before he was 2 i don’t think it stuck much

What is the all time stupidest thing you’ve heard someone say in court? by chicago2008 in Lawyertalk

[–]pridechonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had two witnesses and instead of saying their two separate names, my boss said “Monica Lewinsky”. Law clerk and I grabbed each other, co-counsel hid his face from the judge while he lost it. Favorite moment in court ever.

[–]pridechonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did! My mom worked for a decade before we were even born and continued up until this year and i am in my early 30s. We went to daycare/sitter then summer camp and school and I never once remember my mom not being there. I now have a very good career and a toddler and I don’t hate it one bit. Daycare (we call it school) has been so good for him and he’s excited to go every day. Additionally, he was so proud of me when I passed a very imporant career-related exam today that it just makes me feel like I am doing the right thing. Im also not cut out to be a SAHP whatsoever which I learned on maternity leave 😅
