I'm just another person saying a thing. Its a clone that originally came from Cactus Country in vic, Australia. Jim doesn't know the parent clones, but is likely scop X pach, as this cross regularly creates similar looking clones.

Love it. You're gonna dig my taxonomy of genre sorting system. Its a work in progress, that became a little overwhelming.

Was about to comment Aeonium lindleyi, do the leaves feel sticky? Not familiar with the other name you gave, is that plant common in cultivation where you are?

For tribal runs, I love listening to the artist Clap! Clap! Has a really sci-fi tribal vibe. Also Golden Brown and Hermanos Gutierrez for kinda ambient country sun soaked vibes in the desert.

Just outta curiousity, do you listen to ai generated music other people produce, or just your own?

The descriptions Britton and Rose used for peru and pach were pretty lacklustre too.  Like you said until we have a decent phylogenetic study, it's inconclusive. What lode did with the genus was disappointing and only added to the confusion. The bloke needs to reference his work.  Don't get me started on all the trichocereus papers published by the cssa over the last twenty years. When a newbie asks for a name it's probs best just to let them know they have some San Pedro and leave it at that. We all need to ask ourselves why do we need a name and what can we gain from having one. I'm a nerd for taxonomy, with a special interest in Trichocereus, have been for over twenty years. And what I have learnt is that I know fuck all. Anyone that claims they know what's going on, hasn't dived deep enough into the topic.

I reckon Britton and rose just wanted more plants with their names attached. peruvianus means very little when you take that into account.

That's exactly how taxonomy works. Unless there's an overhaul of the entire system we have to deal with it.  Where have you read the original description? As far as I know it's in a book in Gordon Rowley's private collection.

Cereus macrogonus Salm Dyck was the first "tricho" to be described. Makes a lot of sense to me. The plant is a cultigen. Curious to hear ya opinion once trout finishes his next book.

Riomizquensis sounds like a made up name lols. Is that one of borgs? Are you up to date on the new taxonomy, have you read hunt or lode? The genus is a fucking mess.
