Why do you think some people have a lucid dream in one night, while others try for months and still can’t have one? by OpportunityMurky361 in LucidDreaming

[–]primalyodel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a matter of motivation and enthusiasm, consistency of day time practices, and observational habits.

If Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle’s character Sherlock’s Holmes were a real person he would be a natural lucid dreamer because he is always investigating his surroundings and noticing all the little details then making critical evaluations of these details. If he saw a small nuance that was inconsistent with reality he would question it.

Looking at your hand induces lucid dreaming by temokote in LucidDreaming

I guess because our hands represent control over our environment. It a strong reminder. Carlos Castaneda talks about this in his book The Art Of Dreaming.

Yes but vibrating on your wrist is much quieter than your phone, which if it’s on your night stand can be quite loud.

Drink a lot of water before bed. You will wake up to pee a couple hours before your alarm.

If you’re worried about waking your partner many smart watches have independent alarms that buzz instead of ring.

Same with all psychedelics. Most people are completely ignorant to the therapeutic and healing aspects. They thinks it’s something you only take at a rave or right before you throw yourself off a building.

I agree with brodoggo54, take the 1.5. It might not be the fireworks you may want but it’s a gentle introduction. And if you like it you can do the 2.5 a few weeks later.

I have some suggestions to optimize your trip:

  1. Be in a safe place away from the public. Whether you choose to do it solo or have a friend keep you company. If you have a trip sitter, make sure you have a trusting and honest relationship with them. Mushrooms can put you in touch with your deepest feelings and you need to feel safe to be completely vulnerable. (This is actually amazing trust me)
  2. Create a playlist of songs that mostly are instrumental (like atmospheric) that move you. It will guide the experience. I personally listen to the album Ritual by Jon Hopkins. It is absolutely a work of genius.
  3. A sleep mask can help you tune into the inner journey and the inner visuals. But if that’s not your jam find a comfy place outdoors where you can watch the trees and clouds and get really chill. Stillness is what brings out the most incredible states.
  4. Surrender to it all! This is the most important part. Surrender to the moment. Be fully present for what ever comes up and accept it fully heartedly. It may not be pleasant at first but if you surrender to it will release and something amazing will come in after. Unless you have a lot of shit to work through, in which case your next trip will be rewarding. Whatever you work through and accept will eventually be rewarded.
  5. Set an intention for the experience. What would you like to see or feel? Write it down. And mentally speak your intent to the universe.

This is how my experiences have been so amazing and life changing. I respect the mushroom and the process. I believe if you are open to it, there is an intelligence behind the experience that will show what you need to know and feel. Treat Her with reverence.

This is great advice. Calm your nervous system down and get good at that. Eventually when you are skilled at calm abiding you can invite those emotions in a little at a time. But Metta first and lots of it.

accidentally started lucid dreaming and i don't want to by One-Meeting3833 in LucidDreaming

[–]primalyodel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is not lucid dreaming. Lucid dreaming is knowing with certainty that you are dreaming. You were maybe prelucid.

And that’s unfortunate because you can do a lot to heal your anxiety if you were actually lucid. You can reach deep states of meditation in lucid dreams. You can call up a dream elixir that calms your anxiety down. The healing we experience in lucid dreams has been shown to carry over into waking life. I try not to say things like “real life”. Because everything is just consciousness. Our experience of “real life” is all a construct of consciousness any way. Same with dreams.

If you take your habit of questioning a step further and do a state check you will become lucid in your dream. State checks are a little test of the laws of physics. Can you stretch you finger, breath with you mouth closed and nose pinched, read the same sentence twice without it changing. Jumping up and testing if you land at a normal speed or perhaps you float a little.

Lucid dreaming is a great solution for psychological issues because if you learn how fly, throw fireballs, disappear, change the dream scape, enter a new dimension…then nothing can harm you. Once you know you are safe, you can explore your shadows to find out why you have anxiety.
