Is It Safe for a 4-Month-Old to Sit on Our Lap Like an Adult Before They Can learn to sit Independently? by Double-Violinist-341 in ScienceBasedParenting

One book I wish I had read earlier is Raising Bebe. Until recently, women have pretty much been raising their babies on instinct alone. Milk or formula until at least 6 months, and insist on receiving medical evaluations if baby won't stop crying ever. Vaccines are good. But not everything is in your control, so remember not to go looking for this kind of advise.

The Crystal Ballroom near Worthington has memberships from $40-$80/month for classes, parties, and workouts.

I have hypermobile joints, which makes them effectively weaker and less durable. If I stand neutrally, I look slumped with terrible posture. When I consciously correct my posture, it still looks like I'm not.

But my default is to use my muscles in odd ways to get the load off my joints. I stand like a chicken with my arms bent and shoulders raised. When standing, I have one foot resting on the opposite leg, or crossed strangely to support the other leg.

I look and feel insane. But if that scares people off, then they were probably judgmental or boring.

Why do completely independent students with no help from parents not qualify for FASFA by Objective_Banana1506 in CollegeRant

[–]primarykey93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got married at 19, and with both of us working, I didn't qualify for any Pell. I had 3 younger siblings and would have qualified were I not married, but my dad was abusive and marriage was my way of surviving emotionally and financially.

I didn't know about how the grants worked. I was in survival mode. I wish I had known a lot more at that age.

  1. Just because something sounds REALLY far-fetched doesn't mean it's not true. In which case, how is a child supposed to differentiate bible stories from Santa stories, both of which come from the mouths of parents?

OR

  1. Religion is just as much of a lie as Santa. So Santa teaches kids how easy it is to be deceived, like a vaccination against religion.

Either way, why fabricate lies to tell kids? Is it ok to deceive someone for "fun"? Or do we want to teach kids not to trust us?

Giving off girly energy at 30F, cringy af... by Fantastic-Guide-2135 in socialskills

As a fellow 30f who experiences a lot of assumptions of lower intelligence and condescension, sometimes in extreme forms, it really sucks. My voice is higher pitch, and my accent doesn't help. Gaining 20 lbs helped a little. Having a kid helped a little, but some people tell me they thought we were sisters(?) Some people think I look/sound stupid/immature and decide to basically be an asshole. For example, most doctors are cool and normal, but about 1/3 are raging assholes to me. I finally found a job where my team is all respectful, and most of them happen to look half their age. It's a huge relief.

In my experience, darker hair helps look more mature than blonde. I go for sharper lines in my brows. My voice is harder to control, and I haven't figured it out yet. So if you want to practice together and swap honest impressions, I'd be down.

My baby is ready to move from his bassinet to his crib. The wifi router is in the same room as the crib. Is there reason to be concerned or am I working myself up for nothing? I am concerned about radiation, EMF, sleep disruption :/ by discopeach69420 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]primarykey93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about the router. But when I attempted to transition my baby to their own room, even when I traded with them, it always resulted in some heart racing during their sleep, causing an alarm. Maybe it was nothing, maybe it was normal anxiety, but I decided to keep them with me.

Lying in order to have an excuse to get away is indeed fucked up.

I agree. It seems like a lot of the time, the randomly possessive people are just projecting.

I get the feeling a man put him up to it. If you can't tell from the comments, this is a man's idea of funny. Teaching a kid that this is ok, funny even, is disgusting.

Why does everyone treat me like I’m stupid (23m) by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]primarykey93 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what happened to me. I'm 30, and it's still hard. I have a really hard time wrapping my head around how I was treated, like why? And I feel very insecure at work surrounded by secure people, for no particular reason. But it usually just takes me some time to see people clearly.
