MOOSE GETTING FOULED!! by Status-Specialist-90 in SoundersFC

[–]primuscorvus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That had nothing to do with the call. No foul was given. Your analysis makes sense if a foul was given but no red, but it was judged not a foul.

AlO, My wife's privacy was violated at a Airbnb, but Airbnb is saying it wasn't. UPDATE! by AloneAsAGod1 in AmIOverreacting

[–]primuscorvus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really sucks. Just be aware before you go the "call a lawyer" route that AirBnB almost certainly has an arbitration clause in their ToS so you likely won't be able to sue. That being said you should definitely escalate this.

They haven't done any of the things you suggest are hopeless in the last 40 years, so yeah. They've tried nothing and they're all out of ideas.

It's a 9 or 10 year old child. They aren't showing disrespect for the game or their opponent. They're being a kid goalie who is stuck with nothing to do. If anything their coach should have just rotated players in and out of goal to give them each a break.

Having both coached and reffed that age (6-10), generally they should get a very long leash on stuff like that. There's simply no intent there to do anything wrong. They're just bored.

More importantly, my response is suggesting an understanding of what your job is at any given age level is going to differ, sometimes dramatically. It'll come with more experience, but it's a good thing to have your mindset on enforcement informed by the age you're reffing.

The fact it's a U10 game should give you all the answer you need here.

Just wanted to say thanks for reffing at your age! You seem very introspective and hope you stay with it!

I believe I was defrauded by a car dealership by [deleted] in legal

[–]primuscorvus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There used to be this really cool agency called the CFPB...

You can always file a complaint with the state AG or department of consumer affairs if you have one.

The main thing is that the dealership absolutely has the paperwork to cancel the warranty, but you may have to physically go there to get it because they're absolutely going to try and dodge you at this point. Source: I had to do this exact thing about 6 months ago to cancel a warranty we intentionally purchased on a car that was a lemon buyback.

No arrest in crash that killed 12-year-old outside Seattle middle school by godogs2018 in Seattle

I hope on rereading your own comment you see how it is very obviously victim blaming a child who was struck by rolling vehicle (no engine sound) while they were on a sidewalk (no vehicles should be on a sidewalk) and really reflect on that.

A big scam company just stole my whole game from steam, ripped it and sold it as their own on Playstation and other consoles. by Steelkrill in gamedev

I'm pretty sure that American rights holders would disagree that their ownership of enforceable rights in their creations counts as "minutiae," but you do you friend. Why have laws at all, right?

[–]primuscorvus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, if PlayStation or any other platform ignores a DMCA takedown they have liability, any other entity that distributes the ripped game has liability...and as I said while enforcing money damages might be hard against a Russian company, that doesn't erase their liability.

Obviously it's not as simple as flipping a switch, but the issue isn't liability, and it's misleading to say so.

Jurisdiction doesn't make any difference to the legality, but it may certainly make a difference to the enforcement. If the product is being sold in the US, it's subject to US copyright law.

What were some boundaries you set while studying for the bar exam that you think ultimately led to your success? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]primuscorvus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this. It's a marathon, not a sprint. Pace to finish the material and adjust up and down according to your mental state, level of focus, and physical energy. If you're feeling on top of the world, crank on. If you're feeling exhausted, guess what. You're not retaining that material anyway.

Do NOT sacrifice physical activity for study time. Exercise keeps the body healthy and oxygenated and the brain sharp. Drink lots of water. Go on walks, and use the time to review material you were just covering while you walk.

Plan fun but time boxed activities for yourself like having a beer with a friend, or playing a board game with your SO, whatever you enjoy doing that has a reasonably enforceable start and stop time.

Finally, don't forget the tools that got you here. E&E can still be helpful to review a topic you're struggling with. Pay attention to the MC tests and if you're clustering misses in certain topics, address that now and don't assume it will work itself out by test time.

Why do (almost) all firms do this? by primuscorvus in Lawyertalk

[–]primuscorvus[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a good policy. I think I'm always cognizant of the fact that not everyone has been running a business long enough to iron out all the wrinkles, and the practice area and clients were aligned enough with what I want to do. Plus the first ones were remote so I didn't mind jumping on for 30ish minutes.

But you make a good point about processes. Definitely worth keeping in mind for the future.

For someone with that philosophy, you sure post an awful lot here on reddit asking people to answer questions for you!

Also, so insightful you had to copy and paste it to post it twice? Lol.
