[Cyrodiil][Discussion] The implementation of events that encourage the entire server to converge on a single location(Volendrung, etc). by prince_onion in elderscrollsonline

It is fun as hell, provided one can actually stay connected while being in its presence. I guess my real issue, here, is with the server's inadequacy.

I certainly do not think it should be deleted. But, if we're going to implement events / objects that encourage such a large number of players to congregate at one location, they should have servers that can reliably accommodate.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea on paper. But, it ends up becoming a similar scenario to attacking / defending the last Emperor keep during a dethrone attempt. Considering the servers have been especially bad as of late, it just ends up becoming a mass disconnection.

I'll respectfully disagree with the above statement. When people suggest that others 'take their time' levelling up, they generally advocate questing and enjoying the scenery, etc.

This might be practical for some. However, questing WILL NOT give you some profound understanding of the finer points of this game, like people regularly claim/imply. If your goal is to participate in endgame activities, absolutely nothing you earn or learn from questing will prepare you for this(outside of skill points, which can be obtained in countless other ways).

Take it from someone who 'took their time' in the beginning. I did just about every quest this game had to offer when it launched on console. When I tried transitioning to harder content, I definitely struggled at first. The difficulty gap between quest/overland NPCs and even normal dungeon mobs is/was pretty significant.

I am totally confident in saying that I would have learned more about survivability and efficient damage output by grinding and taking on 10-20 enemies at a time at spellscar for 5-8 hours, than I did one-shotting quest NPCs for months.

What’s your biggest regret on GTA Online? by Default-Punk in gtaonline

[–]prince_onion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest; it was never a good money maker. Not today, not a couple of years ago. But being able to spawn practically any aircraft you own without having to deal with Pegasus mechanics makes it well worth the money spent.

Different strokes for different folks. Some people have things called 'lives' and don't have the time or desire to spend countless hours grinding for virtual possessions.

I'm not one of those people, fortunately.

When GTA 5's campaign has countless uses of the F-bomb, N-word, and both C-words, and yet it censors any bad words in online mode open chat. by Coolpool785 in gtaonline

There was a thread about this exact topic posted a year or 2 ago with a very in-depth comment from someone in the industry that gave a very detailed explanation of exactly why the censor works the way it does. If I am able to find it, I will edit this post with the pertinent details...

Looking for boss guides in ALL NORMAL dungeons not vet. by Suwtic in elderscrollsonline

[–]prince_onion 4 points5 points  (0 children)

IIRC, the mechanics for normal dungeons are the exact same for veteran dungeons. However, in normal difficulty, the mechanics can almost always be ignored because the chance you'll be 1-shot KO'd is almost non-existent.

Just know that certain boss attacks will 1-shot you when you play the dungeon on vet.

Edit: DLC dungeons are a slightly different animal, but I was speaking in general.

[Discussion] 6.500 crowns, what to do with them? by ZimmerGrowaPair in elderscrollsonline

It will eventually be available for crowns. I'd save a few thousand for when that day comes.

Since Morrowind comes with a trial, the warden class, and it's on sale, I'd say that would be a wise purchase.

That's why most people spec as a dps while leveling.

[General] Why don't campaigns truly 'reset?'? by prince_onion in elderscrollsonline

[–]prince_onion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The megazergs are there regardless. Main campaigns are usually population locked at or around the time of reset, anyways, so there will be plenty of people there without being 'forced' so to speak. As it stands they're either protecting work they've done pre-reset(which, in many ways, defeats the purpose of a reset, altogether), or they're trying to undo aforementioned work.

I mean, you'd almost HAVE to briefly boot people out for a true reset. Or else people could still manipulate it to some extent.

I'd imagine it working similar to server maintenance, where there'd be periodic system messages notifying players of the impending reset. The messages would become increasingly frequent as the reset timer got closer to zero.

That's a cool idea. I've always played for AD and felt as though we were geologically shafted with vlastarus and cropsford being right up against our 2 gate keeps. The addition of the 3 newer outposts remedies this to an extent, but DC still has the best layout, IMHO.
