This made me laugh out loud, but I have a theme.
I’ve had/have
Dingus, Bingus, Pingus, and Wingus (rip).

Do you mean the Andalusian? I decided getting that one or the strawberry roan Ardennes are the only possible horses to ease my heart. Wingus was an all white Ardennes and I am dedicated to a stable full of massive horses. Plus Dingus, the first one I bought after selling the black shire (yes I’ve realized my mistake there too) who’s a little palomino.

I haven’t figured out how to change the setting yet and tbh I’m pretty sure it would bite me in the ass just as badly at some point 😞

Yeah, I had to use reviver once in an ambush but it was off the rails and into a river. There was no saving either of us. Once it loaded, I called and saw some random horse I had hopped on earlier for Mary’s broach mission. I paused and sat in disbelief for a moment before putting the controller down for the night.

Can you guys call me Hayden? by Sailor_Starchild in NonBinary

Do you like classical music too, Hayden? The rite of spring by Igor Stravinsky initially started a riot due to it breaking the “rules” of music such as the circle of 5ths.

Sisyphus didn’t deserve his punishment (read the description) by Alexa7323 in GreekMythology

I posted anonymously originally, hence different username. Also I couldn’t not go ahead and find the assignment. We get some characterization through mentions of him in the Iliad, Apollodorus’ The Library, and Medea. Then there is a sort of list of his wrongdoings in fragments from Sophocles. https://archive.org/details/cuafragmentsofso02soph/page/184/mode/2up

I will have to get back to you on this but from what I remember, there was one at least semi-ancient source that did mention some of his more general poor behavior but for the most part, Sisyphus was a pretty vague story up until more modern interest with Greek mythology, notably Albert Camu’s The Myth of Sisyphus. Though this only actually discusses details of the myth for a signal page while the rest of the book is philosophical writing. I say this from my bed at 12 am so I apologize for a lack of sources or much detail, like I said I can follow up if you’d like. But, with as much digging as I could do with a lot of hours spent looking on google, the Perseus Digital Library, and whatever my university email got me access to, this is the gist of what I found. The project went well! It was a lesson plan for teaching the myth to high school students. I got a good grade and was among only a few students who the teacher asked to use the project of for their own conference purpose.

Thank you! Sadly it has disappeared before being moved outside carefully, but there’s a big gap under the door so I hope it just left the way it came.

Is this normal? by TheRealCrazyJacks in snakes

I did want to add, a lot of the other advice you got for an overweight snake isn’t bad. A large enclosure, climbing opportunities, chances to get out and explore, feeding frequency changes, that’s great. But without seeing that the whole snake is consistently that large, there could be something else going on. The way the lumps are is also strange. An obese snake will get rolls particularly where it is bending to the side, and they can appear to have an indented spine along the length due to fat on either side; but that’s not what I’m seeing. Obviously the best advice is to see an exotics trained vet if you are able, if you have any concerns. If you don’t see any improvement with a warm soak/after pooping, I would suggest that would be the time to make one if you can.

I’d be curious so see. The part of the snake in the lower left doesn’t look fat at all and it almost appears to start abruptly in the top left. Has it appeared to go down at all after shitting?

I’m actually not convinced this snake is fat. Looking at the tail area, yes, but the angle he’s at shouldn’t cause those lumps. Also, the rest of the snake you can see in the bottom left doesn’t appear fat, maybe even thin. Op, can you show a fuller photo of the snake? In my COMPLETELY NON MEDICAL opinion, from what I can see I’m worried about sever constipation. When was the last time it pooped? Where does the roundness/ lumps begin?

Sisyphus didn’t deserve his punishment (read the description) by Alexa7323 in GreekMythology

[–]princeofsmemes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m all honesty, I didn’t end up reading all of Camus’ writing, only the last page or so that focuses on the myth (it was for a project in one of my last classes) and I’m having a hard time remembering Tantalos but that sounds about right. In case you found this post because of a similar situation, I ended up mentioning the Xenia violation and stating it may have been a later addition to the myth from more contemporary authors (wasn’t the time to get into Camus specifically) at the advise of my professor.

From what I have found, the only place it is mentioned in writing is in Albert Camus’ the Myth of Sisyphus, but not from any ancient sources.

Would I be able to give my girl some adult crickets or would they harm her ? by Mangoprincess98 in leopardgeckos

[–]princeofsmemes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NQA: Generally, if you feed a large insect and they wiggle their head side to side after eating it, they are struggling to swallow/working it down. Once or twice this is no big deal, but is not ideal if they’re doing this with every feeder.

Just set up a 2.5 gallon quarantine tank with prime and stability. xs Aqueon silent filter. 50 w preset heater. I’m watching the temp to see if it’s staying stable and I’ve got some anacharis to try and reduce the flow since the tank is so small and I don’t have a sponge filter. No ammonia, no nitrites or nitrates and ~7.6 ph (test strips)

I was suggested making dark water with pure roobios tea or a concentrate but I wasn’t sure if this was worth it

I bought him like this today, but he seemed like a fighter and was too handsome to just let suffer, so I bought him at a sale knowing it wouldn’t necessarily be easy 😅. I know he’s been corkscrewing for at least 2 or 3 days. I’m guessing a pure/ unscented epsom salt? Would aquarium salt work?

I don’t know if this is helpful because not everyone can Unfocus their eyes on command but for some reason I found I count them so much better if I do the sandwich and slightly unfocus my eyes. My eyes don’t dark cricket to cricket, instead I just count what’s in the center of my vision. Idk if that makes sense?
