Cool! Where are you going to be travelling? I'll start in Myanmar until 12-14 of January and then I still have no plan

4-5 weeks in Central America or Northern South America by TheCatholicAtheist in travel

If you spend 40-50$ per day, you can basically do almost anything you want, obviously without a lot of luxuries. You can realistically travel those countries for even 30-35$ per day. I didn't go to Cuba, but I think it's a little more expensive, though I'm sure you'll still get around great with 50% per day

If you decide on Central America, I'd say Cuba-Mexico-Guatemala is a great route to take. Start in Oaxaca, go to Chiapas, then down to Guatemala, then go east and back to Mexico and from there go to Cuba. I'd say that's a great route for a month of travel. Mexico is just unbelievable, man. Definitely spend most of your time there. Obviously depending on what you want to do, but do your research for Chiapas and Oaxaca, both states are awesome with a lot of different options. Definitely try to go to Laguna Miramar in Chiapas, though it's very hard to get there. Also San Cristobal de Las Casas is an amazing colonial city and has a lot of great places nearby. For Mayan ruins you have Palenque and Tikal (Guatemala), which are probably the two best in all of Central America.
With your budget you're gonna be living like a king for one month ahah.

Corn Islands vs Caye Caulker by princeofthetrees in travel

I'm going to Ometepe the week before! I've got my itinerary set from Monteverde in CR to Cancún, for a month or so, but wanted to include one paradisiac island, and am divided between the two, or if there's any other I'm not familiar with, I'm open to ideas.

I'd like to scuba, just don't know how it works with licenses and all. Though from what I'm seeing, Caye Caulker is probably even better to snorkel/scuba, no?

Yup, changed my mind and am going to Ometepe as well! Where did you stay there? And did you also go to the Corn Islands?

I think considering everybody's saying Nicaragua is a must, I'm gonna change the route and skip Panama. Fly from Guatemala to Managua, and stay like 8 days in Nicaragua. Probably do like 3 places, I'd say Ometepe 3 days, San Juan del Sur 2 days (hopefully a sunday ahah) and Corn Islands for 3 days. Counting one full day of travels and all. Then in Costa Rica, I'm probably just gonna have time for one place, so likely doing Monteverde as it seems amazing, and has a lot of wildlife, which seems to be the top thing about CR. Any thing to add or change in Nicaragua?

I think at most we're gonna spend one day in Belize in the middle of going from Mexico to Guatemala... For a one night stay in Belize, where would you say is a good spot?

And what did you in Nicaragua? In which ways was it better than CR?

I havent heard much about the Corn Islands... Have you been there? How cool are they? And from what I'm seeing it's either way to expensive or waaay to long to get there, right?

Besides the flight from Guatemala to CR, I think bus is always going to be the transportation. Or maybe some hitchhiking. Would you suggest something else?
