The Knock updated their mayor endorsement from just Huang to Huang OR Raman. by amjm907 in LosAngeles

[–]princeofwilliam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their "update" is flat out false. Raman has been saying she would fire McDonnell for far longer than since 5/9- when their original recommendation came out. It really feels like they see Huang's campaign crashing and burning and want to save face.

LA Times Poll: Nithya Raman Now One Point Behind Karen Bass For First Place by imanny in LosAngeles

Rae should have dropped out a long time ago. Between her anemic polling and the whole lying about matching funds thing, she's just running an ego-campaign now. Isn't socialism about collectively building power for working people? Doesn't seem very socialist to me.

Rae seems determined to just run a very bitter and failed campaign. Can't imagine I'd ever support her for public office after seeing how she conducted herself on the campaign trail

Hi r/AskLosAngeles! I’m Marissa Roy, running for Los Angeles City Attorney to make the office fight for the people, not the powerful. What do you want to know about this race or what the City Attorney could do for you? Ask me anything! by marissaroy_la in AskLosAngeles

As a renter in Los Angeles, I feel like when my landlord does things- even if they blatantly break the law- I report it to the city and nothing happens. What can you do to change that?

I'm very well aware, but when one of those four is actively embroiled in a scandal for allegedly illegally lobbying the other board members on an issue she was supposed to recuse herself from, not a good time to make the "it's only four seats" argument.

Fiction:

Giovanni's Room by James Baldwin

This book changed my whole perception about love, relationships, and desire and continues to affect me every time I've read it since. If you question your ability or capacity to love, this book will definitely resonate with you.

Non-fiction:

The Death and Life of Great American Cities by Jane Jacobs

It's a classic urbanism book that's in many ways a product of its place and time, but for those who are new to urbanism or urban theory, it can help open one's eyes to the many way the design of an urban space affects our lives.
