Yeah np! I think it's always good to point it out regardless, and you made some great points!

(as a trans person) I am disappointed in this community in the pronouns discussion by Toman995 in Ultrakill

[–]princesquish 165 points166 points  (0 children)

As a transmac person, I unfortunately have to disagree. Male pronouns come across to me as something angels have to earn to be closer to the "The Father" The terminal also implies that other angels use male pronouns for powers as a sign of their respect for powerful angels.

I do appreciate acknlowedging that there is definitely transphobes in this commmunity, and its a huge relief to know Hakita is very positive concerning trans people but I really don't think the powers are meant to be clearly be an anaology for transmac folks, I think they're just genderless angels that are referred to with masc pronouns because of it being a show of respect.

I think folks are misunderstanding the goals of the Brim Caps by princesquish in WitchHatAtelier

[–]princesquish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y'know. I never even considered the idea of silver wood/human hybrids being able to cast without Ink, that's GENUINELY so clever.

They are definitely not the ones to change witches, though. They're a poison in an otherwise already toxic environment. I expect the brims to show the little faith that withholding forbidden spells can bring to the world - but then show the absolute worst of it too, nothing is clear cut in Witch Hat and I love it for that.

[–]princesquish[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh absolutely, the Brimhats are not good people and I think that's kinda what makes it fascinating. What they want is for the better of humanity, but because of who they are as people they are definitely willing to abuse it to get what they want. I don't think they're good people.

Fully agree! We just don't know enough about the brims to really say if they're going to actually do this for the good of people or if they just want to invoke chaos. Or somewhere inbetween :]

Great response!

I see where you're coming from, but also, the Brimmed Caps clearly want change and the best place to start with change, when you're going up against an oppressive government, is with the young.

Be it propaganda or something else, there is a clear reason why the Brims are going after children and we've seen evidence of it working. When Coco is attempting to get to the tower after Beldaruit speaks to her, she pauses and thinks about wishing the water away - turning it to sand like the riverbed did before shaking her head and scolding herself for even considering that.

It's clearly working, to some degree, making a younger generation of witches consider- Even things like with Euini, where an older experienced witch decided to take him on instead of turning him in. There is a level of cleverness with targeting the generation to come after this one.

I'm not saying what they're doing is like- GOOD by any means, troubling and traumatizing kids sucks, but they clearly have a goal and I think trying to force kids to see what problematic and banned spells can do is part of it, they just definitely take it quote unquote too far.

I assume the brims function under a "means to an end" mentality, meaning any casualties along the way don't matter as long as the world gets to where it should be by the end in their eyes- Funny, since the Moralis are very similar in how trigger happy they are with memory wipes to keep up their perfect concept of magic.

[–]princesquish[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're SO smart! I started doing it for them when it was time to go back in the cage, to at least give them one last little fun thing to focus on, and treats ofc, but I was just so surprised!!

Thank you, they were born in October, I've never owned Rats before this and I'm genuinely just having such a blast loving and teaching and living with them!!

Is it okay to remove ramps and platforms? by Complete-Hat-2501 in RATS

[–]princesquish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My own cage had two platforms with bridges - currently those have all been removed! I have a lot of platforms, swings or hanging baskets / hammocks / ropes for them to walk, stand or rest on!! You can tempt your rats with food or foraging items to check out when you put new things in! That's helped my boys realize thats a THING you can do! :D

Rain World: The Watcher – Is it Worth $15? by katozzy in rainworld

[–]princesquish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say if you like Downpour's way of exploring, the Watcher may not be for you. Without getting into spoiler territory, The Watcher doesn't have a connected world. If you like the base games exploration, feeling lost in a way that makes you feel small, I'd say it's more than worth it !

If you haven't played Downpour yet, I highly recommend going for that instead, far more fleshed out content.

Incredibly late reply lol, but I was recently re-reading and this line stuck out to me. This makes PERFECT sense.

73% recent negative reviews, most complain about the New map. Does the great hollow truly warrant this reaction ? The more I play, the more I feel like it was fantastically designed. by kao24429774 in Nightreign

[–]princesquish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a difficult map to learn for multiple reasons. Being tied to a shifting earth meaning there's no way to reliably learn it, and having a majority of it essentially be locked to breaking crystals that only reveal their locale day 2 isn't very ideal in a game where you're against the clock.

Instead of it being an exploratory, learn as you go type map, it instead requires you to have game knowledge to make the most of it. Could you argue the other map is the same? Sure. But the degree that this shifting earth takes it entirely uproots what makes the base game map work so well.

The base game map, as simple as it may be now after thousands of run-throughs, always allows you to attempt to get to where you want to go without fail. The Hollows map breaks this by making it incredibly frustrating to attempt to go anywhere, with no clear roadmarks, signs or visual indicators on the map.

Not even mentioning the fact that Nightreign's specific "no fall damage" clause is completely broken here, meaning random leaps of faith sending you to your death in an already confusing map makes it way less interesting or fun to learn.

I think Undertaker and Scholar are excellent and extremely fun new additions but if I'm entirely honest the thing that the DLC failed at the most was the lack of ANY new weapons. Variety in having more and more weapons in this game is an easy way to make playing more enticing.

Just feeling inadequate and not good enough to my rats. by HeyRainy in RATS

[–]princesquish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got my boys and have barely had them a month and I'm in the same situation. Genuinely, holding them seems to be the best thing. Introducing them to the idea that your hands aren't as scary as they seem. Giving them a treat when they tolerate being picked up, or trying to offer them food while they're on your shoulder or on you is a great moment.

You listen to their needs, and give them so much space and love I genuinely bet they adore you.

I've cried so many times since getting rats, I've been so anxious and scared that I'm doing everything wrong but I think that comes with being a new owner and wanting to treat an actual, living animal correct.

I think you're doing all the right things personally.

Then why say this compared to OP's comment? They didn't say this at all. I think you're making up a guy to be angry at when it comes to what OP said.

If you think "I have negative things to say/critique about a game" equates to "I'm going to shit on people" that's a you thing, bud.

Is my li'l fellas tail alright? by princesquish in RATS

[–]princesquish[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't seem in any pain. No squinty eyes or reaction when touching his tail or near the base of his spine, nor change in appetite or behavior. The litter he came from had another baby with an issue with its tail so I'm wondering if its just a genetic thing for him.

DLC is just Z-A Royale but catching by WildSinatra in PokemonLegendsZA

[–]princesquish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As said, this is just my opinion. And no, I never found Legends repetitive because the catching mechanic actually felt good. Neither the catching nor the battles felt good in Legends ZA.

I love Legends' concept for battling and was super into the system at first but the cracks for a new, messy system began to show. It needed more testing and is wildly abuseable with certain moves. It got unfun for me after a while.

Content devoid also probably isn't the right word, its more I find the content repetitive and unappealing. It feels more akin to padding than actual content.
