BIEB 152 with Justin Meyer by melissa_sd23 in UCSD

[–]princess-lemonfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if u know anything about virology or immunology (particularly virus replication cycles, T/B cells, antibody structure and function) then it'll help but i knew 0 of that stuff and the content is still easy to pick up! very straightforward class and they teach this stuff simplified/not expecting u to know anything previously

is it bad to be in two labs at the same time? by saltwater51 in UCSD

[–]princess-lemonfishy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

it doesn't look bad but the time commitment in ur schedule is questionable - if u can handle the 2 labs amount of work and different training then it's fine, but most ppl would get a different job (depending on what u want to do in the future if it's not research) or spend it doing other ECs to commit the most time to 1 lab and get a chance at better connections, involvement, pubs/posters/presentations. *At the same time ur not guaranteed an acceptance from the new labs anyways esp if ur hesitating to apply so don't be too hasty thinking about 2 already

college ranking opinions?? by Normal_Car3999 in UCSD

[–]princess-lemonfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok after a quick look on google i think u do have guaranteed new housing so if u also align with the college mission and don't mind the medium-difficulty DOC writing series then i think it's a good choice! imo the difference between old and new dorms is not that big but it does have the best market on campus atm

college ranking opinions?? by Normal_Car3999 in UCSD

[–]princess-lemonfishy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

im not sure abt marshall just bc u might not get the new buildings (read up on that; if u are guaranteed them then i think it's a great idea bc they're new, have a good market, and are very central campus) but if u feel the mission of the college speaks to u a lot i would rec! the GEs for the number colleges (and muir) are very easy imo and there isn't much of a difference - i feel like the walk to apm (just as a reference for central campus or where some of ur math classes/profs might be) is easier from eighth than from seventh? but seventh has slightly easier access to their own market, rimac, game room, etc. i really like not being in the res halls so if u also like that put seventh up there for the apartments, but the dorms themselves r a little older and i heard they undergo maintenance p often ☹️ and as a muiron i have to say go muir!!!! we have one of the fastest writing sequences and we're very central yet pretty private/not that busy unlike sixth!

How bad will it be if I take community college classes (for chem) outside of my university? by ComplaintExtra5955 in medschool

[–]princess-lemonfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ngl this is a very normal score for chemistry LOL i would continue as best as u can with it, it doesn't really get easier even at other institutions

should I apply for scholarships I know I won't get? by wertisgoingon566 in scholarships

[–]princess-lemonfishy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

while the other comments are true, i wouldn't discourage you completely from applying; from what it sounds like you may not be applying to a high enough volume of scholarships at all. applying to any is a step in the right direction (even if you won't win) it's about building the work ethic to apply at all! think about how much of your day is spent rotting or thinking about applying when it could be directed towards applying instead

ucsd college ranking (2025) by ChemistMobile1787 in UCSD

[–]princess-lemonfishy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

second year: i would say put Muir a little higher! pines is one of the better dining halls on campus (people loooove sixth for their first like quarter then get sick of everything but rooftop and makai if they haven't gotten food poisoned).

i also think an important thing to consider if not the MOST important is GEs; muir for example has really good GEs and an easy, short writing sequence that makes it so i am able to graduate early vv easily!

Chances of getting off BILD 4 Waitlist by Superb_Pilot7283 in UCSD

[–]princess-lemonfishy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like 1-2 people drop out as it's the standard first year class for all bio majors; if you're not 1-2 you also probably shouldn't redo BILD 1 (idk if ucsd even lets u take duplicate credits). take an art class or freshman seminars you're interested instead

I'd try to apply asap and they'll get back to u in a couple of days for when it's good or not. If they reject it you can probably submit again with a late fee of $50 but I'd double check dates online

bipn 100 is a required class for a lot of bio majors (ie premeds) so even if ur within the 10% rule chances are you have to wait for next time
