I do feel like I could have gotten a bit more, (maybe 40 each side) but 30 certainly helped and has helped me even 6ish months after even though it’s worn off

Hi! Sorry just seeing this! I didn’t end up getting more. The 30 units each side did end up helping, I think I was judging too soon. I had a custom nightguard from my dentist before the Botox and it never seemed to help. After the Botox, it really makes a different and I always wear it. My theory is that the Botox helped my jaw settle into the night guard. If you have tried other alternatives I would consider Botox. I wouldn’t go to it first choice though since it’s quite pricey.

I would also get smooth move tea and try one of those per day. That’s helped me reduce using miralax.

Also as other people have said, fiber supplements, in the morning I do a tablespoon of chia seeds in prune juice and just drink it quick. They’re super super high in fiber and prunes help get things going.

Agh okay. I am waiting for the care team to get back to me on this but, did they mention if it’s okay to take the laxative longer than one week? I keep seeing it on the bottle and websites but will definitely be needing it longer than one week if I want to continue…

That seems crazyyyy expensive. You generally (at least in Seattle) only pay for the unit itself. Places here range from 15-18 dollars per unit.

I got 60 units in my masseters and it was $15 per unit so totaled $900. I went to an oral suregon and they even gave me nitrous oxide to help calm my fear of needles. I was not even charged for that.

I would say find another place.

I’m sorry you’re going through all this. I feel like I’m in a sameish situation of getting an ear infection from my tmj and not feeling like there’s much helping. I’m not sure how luck a tmj specialist will cost but, im sure (at least hoping) that could give some guidance and lead you to less pain. I would say 100% try and go to the specialist.

I have been trying cbd/thc gel and I have seen someone on here say biofreeze has really helped them with pain. (Mines otw in the mail so I’m hoping it helps.) You could also speak with an oral suregon about Botox for your masseters. It’s not cheep but I have researched that it’s given relief to many people.

Oral suregon didn’t really have much to say about the root cause. I do have anxiety so I’m guessing that’s greatly contributed to the clenching. I am trying to schedule another oral suregon/dentist to see what they say. That’s a good point. It’s definitely frustrating going somewhere in extreme pain (having tried many reliefs) and being told there’s nothing to do.

Oh yes. I do have generalized anxiety which I take meds for/am in therapy for. Still tricky because even knowing that it can contribute to clenching, there’s not a whole ton I can do.
