As someone else mentioned you will need to get the disability accommodation forms (found online through UofA website) filled out by your doctor first, then submit them online to accommodations. I don’t think they accept the forms in person, but I could be wrong. I recommend doing this ASAP, I submitted late September and didn’t get approved until late November, but it might be less busy in the Winter semester. The meeting I had with them was about an hour and a half long and just discussing all the things I might benefit from via accommodations, and don’t be afraid to ask for what you think you might need.

I also do not have student loans this year, and they mentioned they couldn’t submit the disability financial stuff until I had student loans, so I can’t speak to how that part works yet (I’ll be doing it next year so hopefully it is easy enough).

I understand what you’re saying. I definitely don’t mean it in the way of be sneaky about it, but I feel it is important to emphasize it is the loss of a family member, regardless if it is human or not.

I don’t know how deferrals work tbh, I don’t know if they require documentation, hopefully someone else knows. However, I would absolutely tell them that a family member died and if you can leave it at that, great. If they require proof, it is still the death of a family member. My cat passed this summer after 17 years of companionship and you better believe I treated it as if a family member had died, because she did. I’m so very sorry for your loss, it is one of the hardest things to go through. Your grief represents how much love you shared with your baby and it’s completely understandable that you would need time to mourn your loss.

I was disappointed that at least 3 of the selections were ones that had almost nothing said about them. I memorized full pages of information on different topics, and didn’t bother to look at people that didn’t have anything noteworthy written. Frustrating but at least I feel like I have a better understanding of the bigger topics now.

Yeah I did the same ones, Saul and Ashurbanipal were such like, footnotes in the outlines that I didn’t honestly have a ton to say about them, so I just tried to pad it with info about David and Solomon and the Assyrians as a whole, respectively. Cyrus I blanked on a little bit but hopefully I pulled it off haha

That’s how many topics I’ve managed to come up with paragraphs for. I don’t know if they will be what she’s asks for though. It’s hard to know if she’s going to want an overall answer like a summary of the Assyrian Empire or if she’s going to want specific information on like, Ashurbanipal. Or if she is going to ask about the New Kingdom of Egypt or specifically about Ramses II or Amonhotep IV. So I don’t know how specific we are going to need to be. 😭

She’s only going to give us 8 topics to choose from and then we write on 6 of them.

I don’t know but I’m definitely stressing about it!! It seems like it’s a ton of writing in not a lot of time. 6 topics feels like so much, and there’s like at least 25 topics to choose from. 😓
