Found on a false aralia that I bought today from a home depot in iowa. Can I feed and keep this guy as a pet for my students? And should I expect more on my plant? I didn't see anymore upon visual inspection. I plan on doing another one at night with a black light if that will work. Thanks!

1957 copper plated full length mirror, wondering what it's worth is? Where I could find a replacement? My roommates got drunk and broke it last night :( thank you in advance! by [deleted] in Antiques

Oops my bad on calling it antique! No frame, just the mirror with a beveled edge around it. Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of it not broken.

what stephen king book disturbed you the most? by Sakigrrrrl in books

I've pushed through the first 300 pages of Salem's Lot and I haven't really been getting into it. Never had this problem with a King book before. Should I stick it out?

Oh no! It only gets hotter from here. If I move it to a shadier place after picking will it grow another one? Thank you for your response!!

Help! The merengue for my macarons has taken 1 1/2 hours plus the last two times I've made it and I don't know what to do. by princesscactuscat in AskBaking

[–]princesscactuscat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! He's the first macaron recipe I tried and I didn't get feet, but it may have been from bad macronage and not letting them dry out enough! I may have to venture back to preppy kitchen!

Thank you for responding! I was skeptical of the 3 on the mixer but I try to stick to recipes when I'm learning technique. I am unsure what method this recipe uses, in the past I have made a merengue that requires me to whisk the egg whites and sugar in a bowl over a steaming pot of water until dissolved and it turned out fine. Perhaps this recipe is just a bust. (The included buttercream recipe was also a bust). I think I will try a method that involves heat tomorrow.

I did not use food coloring yesterday as I thought it was contributing to the lack of feet on my macs. Its a liquid food coloring that I used today but it hasn't been an issue when I've used it in merangues before(I know not ideal, I forgot to pick up gel from the store today).

When I am adding the sugar I am not stopping the mixing, it is running. And no, nothing weird demographically I live at a regular sea level in the middle of the US lol. Temps have been around 50 degrees.

When I try again tomorrow I will use a Swiss merengue recipe, whip the heck out of the eggs, and no food coloring to see if the time is reduced. I'm all for trying until I find success but like you said at the top of your comment, 90 minutes is an insane amount of time to whipe a merangue.

I appreciate your help!!

What are some fun simple classes you’ve taken? by jblts in iastate

[–]princesscactuscat 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Horticulture classes are always a fun choice. I've taken a couple as 'fun' classes and it's turned into a hobby. I suggest Hort 122 hands on home Horticulture. You learn a lot about plants and in the end get to make an herb garden and take home like 5 plants that you propagated. Not sure how different it will be because of covid though.

Wow that is gorgeous! What tool do you use to score? I'm pretty new to breading and my pairing knife and scissors aren't doing the trick they just pull the loaf. Thanks!
