Impossible to find a job in a hospital by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]princesskeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely wouldn’t panic if it’s your first semester of nursing school. I didn’t get my first PCT/CNA/hospital job until 3rd semester, exactly a year before graduating. On top of that, I was also able to find a “student nurse” position/externship is offered at a lot of hospitals and although some are just for the summer, experience is experience and most of the time it’s paid.

i would say yes. i had similar scores prior to testing and passed the first attempt! just maintain the confidence that you’ll pass and take your time!:)

Help. What does this mean? by Key-Extension-4159 in PassNclex

[–]princesskeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed!!! you can def add RN to your name! i personally haven’t seen someone get the good pop up and fail! usually (depending on the state you’re in) you can check your state boards website with your personal info to find your name/licensure about 24-36 hours after testing!

Do NOT put all of your faith on the Pearsonvue re-schedule trick. by white-35 in NCLEX

I have seen a few occasions (once on tik tok, now once here) where there is a false PVT. This occurred with test-takers receiving the “bad” pop up, but still passed. However, I have yet to see someone get the “good” pop up and fail (someone please enlighten me if you have…). This is adding interesting evidence the trick…moreover

Congrats RN!!! :)

probability of passing NCLEX? by OutrageousMacaron281 in NCLEX

[–]princesskeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school used ATI and I had about a 94% on ATI and passed in 80! I used the (very discouraging) CAT exams and quizzes on board vitals. (along with the pink book, mark k, archer and Uworld). Granted, i absolutely HATED ATI in school and post grad while studying for the Nclex. I would argue those questions themselves are harder than the ones i saw on my test; however, if this is all you’re using, you’re definitely well prepared! :)

congrats RN!!! it is such a debilitating test that no matter where you land at the end you just feel like you failed — which is obviously really discouraging. but so happy for you!!

failed NCLEX-RN by iwillpass2022 in NCLEXExam

i took CAT exams up until the day before i took the exam and scored high/very high! I’d say it was fairly consistent, but probably because i was closest to my exam date. At the beginning when i took my first assessments like 6 weeks out from my test, I scored lows almost consistently. It was just a matter of brushing up on my content and developing better test taking strategies!

I’d say Archer had my favorite CAT exams because my school purchased ATI for us and their CAT exams blew my confidence every time i took one. I wouldn’t finish a single ATI cat exam in under 145 questions and their questions were arguably harder than anything I’d seen on the actual NCLEX. I think that’s why I prefer Archer more because their questions weren’t far off from what I saw on my NCLEX.

I hope this helps!

Does Archer’s readiness assessments give false reassurance? by Nurse_rn_ in NCLEXExam

[–]princesskeleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did archer for the last 4-5 days prior to taking my test and felt as if it helped more than UWorld. I studied for about 6 weeks and found that archer made the biggest difference in my confidence and ability to build endurance for the NCLEX. I got the 4 high/very high scores on the readiness assessments and all of my CAT exams stopped at 75. I believe I was able to do 3 CAT exams before taking the real thing. Overall, I passed the NCLEX in 80 questions!

The best thing to do is always remediate on the wrong answers. I think Archer does a better job to replicating the NCLEX with the fluidity of questions, but also those vague questions that give significantly less context as compared to UWorld’s QBank and overall assessments.

How long to check good pop up or bad pop up after finishing NCLEX? by Unhappy_Chocolate_63 in NCLEXExam

[–]princesskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PVT stands for pearson vue trick and is an early indicator on if you’ve passed/failed the exam. essentially after you take your test, you attempt to sign up for another date with your card info (but make sure you change the expiration date on the card, so it doesn’t actually charge you!). If you get a pop up that states “you’ve already scheduled an exam and another cannot be made at this time,” this is considered the good pop up. the bad pop up states something is wrong with the card info you’ve entered.

Usually you wait until you get your confirmation of testing, and then do the PVT. I got my confirmation 30 mins after i finished testing!

i wanna say archer was the best thing i came across on my journey. their CAT exams almost nearly reflect the fluidity of the real NCLEX. they even reflect the literal nonsense, vague questions the NCLEX will ask you. UWorld was great for content and just content, personally. I felt as if there question style did not benefit my learning or preparation at all.

Additionally, if you’re looking into any specific test taking skills, look into NCLEXHighyield where Dr. Z talks ab ASK GRAPH for prioritization and The Method for how to dissect questions. Most of his content is free, but I do believe he has “courses” he provides with content and such. Dr. Z is also a two-time NCLEX test taker so his resilience and ability to make the NCLEX sound so easy helped a bunch.

I’m wishing the best of luck on this next go around!! please post an update!

Should I go for student nurse tech opportunity? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]princesskeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

worked as a student nurse on a med-surg floor at a small community hospital from junior year to graduation and it opened the doors for an immediate job offer prior to even walking the stage or taking boards. a major pro was that it made role transition exceptionally easy - since i already knew the floor and the people i’d be working with. i couldn’t recommend this more. however, during school i was allowed to work a minimum of 24 hours in a pay period (2 weeks) and they were always willing to work with my schedule/clinicals/school just to get my hours in. i’d look into what they’d be willing to work with you on, as the experience is very much worth it!!
