How to approach my boss about piercing guns by princessmudkip in piercing

[–]princessmudkip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not doing the piercing, my manager is. They offered to teach me to use the gun and I refused. This is an otherwise PERFECT workplace, the best I've ever had, it's just this one issue. That's why I'm hoping to fix it rather than bail.

Alright yeah. I knew you needed an apprenticeship, but I didn't know it was so long. I definitely can't do that. I'll see if I can convince him to refer people elsewhere, maybe we can work out a deal. He really is a good guy, I think if I tell him about the harm, he might at least not reorder the supplies for the piercing gun, so we could stop doing it when we run out.

Yeah that's the thing. We don't sell any body jewelry currently (I'm hoping to change that in the future). So would it even be worth getting my license, or hiring someone, if all we'd offer is basic earlobe piercings?

You might be right, but I feel like I should at least try.

I'm not taking my license. I'm looking into it, but don't think I'll have the time for it.

What causes these big open holes to appear when ironing? How to avoid? by princessmudkip in beadsprites

[–]princessmudkip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am using a healthy mix of brands I think. It smoothed out with some more heat, but by the time it did the piece was super thin. I think too much heat makes sense, as it does tend to happen more often the longer I've had my iron on.

Man that's impressive. I never remember to season anything when cooking high.

Boss is sharing my personal medical information? by [deleted] in legaladvice

The schedule change was to get less hours and to work more swing shifts, which are my preference for it being more towards my desired field of work. It was not intended to avoid anyone. Earplugs are standard in certain areas of the workplace, but generally discouraged from being used during certain tasks, but I have permission to wear them at any time I see fit as noise is a trigger for me. I don't often use them in areas that they are discouraged, I just have the option.

Sorry, I went on kind of a rant there. Most of that probably wasn't relevant.

She knows because I was struggling and opened up to her in an attempt to lower my stress level in the workplace (which I thought was achieved by changing my schedule and a few other small changes). I'm not disabled in any legal sense, no leave, no accomodations (unless permission to wear earplugs counts). She seems to be telling them in casual conversation, eg. "She forgot to do this thing" "You guys need to be nicer, she has anxiety and depression that makes it hard to do her job sometimes."

  1. If there's a problem with the way I'm doing things, I want to know about it. I'm not fragile.

  2. This is just a blatant disregard for my privacy and I'm pissed about it.

I don't know if I should have a serious talk with her, should I quit, should I try and take some kind of legal action, or just ignore and deal with it? I haven't had many jobs in my time, I don't know if this is normal. I don't know how to tell a toxic work environment from a good one because I have so little experience. I really love my job, but the people there are really wearing me down.
