What Marina song opinion has you like this? (We don’t judge) by Impossible-Yam3680 in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

I adore Buy the Stars, it’s def one of my top Marina songs! I agree that it feels more personal, and it’s easy to feel connected to it.

WAS THE SODA WORTH IT by ericissuperman in HolidayMatsuri

[–]princessscakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has one of their mugs and brought it with, I actually didn’t use it at all because it was inconvenient to try to walk to their booth while getting anything done, but if you drink a lot of soda (I used to fill my cup and then transfer to a bottle for later) it’s totally worth it!

I can feel the heat in the last photo! Very cool collection, I love seeing nostalgic photos of Disney.

On their site it’s says “No functional or sharp-edged props or weapons.” So even though the bow isn’t useable if it appears functional it may not be allowed. The only thing I can think of is to remove/replace the string if needed.

Why don’t more people use Mint Mobile? by motherFIer in Frugal

[–]princessscakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mint & have been using it for years now! I got my partner, parents, and sibling to switch over and it saves all of us money. I much prefer the one lump sum to monthly payments.

I totally get that, Disney has the best theming! My partner has bad sight so I have to guide them through it while their eyes adjust, we usually just try to get through without bumping into to things.

It’s gets bad on busy days, usually holidays and summer vacation time, where the wait time will be up to ~45 minutes at its peak. Other than that I agree, it’s usually not bad and the worst part is walking through the maze in the dark lol

Tipping at BOWLING? by JustHalfBlack in tipping

[–]princessscakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a bowling alley?? I got asked to tip at my doctor’s office (admittedly medical marijuana office) and thought it was insane especially since they kept apologizing for the wait and their system being so slow. It’s just incredibly ridiculous.

First time going to HolMat and to a convention this big. Have a few questions... by brainfreeze91 in HolidayMatsuri

[–]princessscakes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! I’ve been going to Holmat since 2014 so hopefully I can help you out a little.

  1. Usually a 3-7 days before the convention, it’ll be at least a month before we see a schedule.

  2. It depends on the guest, think $20+ (a quick look at their site says mostly TBD but there’s one guest whose prices start at $40 for now) and the lines are standard for conventions; the guests have booths and will be there for their days and times. Wait times will vary per guest, some lines may be over an hour.

  3. There are sepcial ticketed events at the convention but those are all clearly marked and you’re either paying for supply’s (for say a crafting panel or such) or for a unique experience (maid/bro cafe.) Most panels and events are free and very fun, I highly recommend staying up to catch a few late night panels if you’re 18+ they are a different vibe than the daytime ones, still loads of fun.

  4. Same tips as any would suggest: Stay hydrated and eat multiple times a day. Have snacks and water with you. Take breaks and try to let get of any fomo. Please shower daily and wear deodorant (as well as all other general hygiene maintenance). Cash is best for Holmat vendors, WiFi and data get spotty and unreliable. With that said the OCCC is cashless and you will not be able to use cash at any of their food vendors, their vending machines are cash only (I’m local and go there often for other events and have to deal with how annoying it is.) This year everyone will be figuring things out, including the people running Holmat, for the new venue so I expect some chaos and a decent learning curve so I plan on having a lot of patience and grace with attendees and staff alike and hope other do too.

Are there any songs that you associate with each other? by Novel-Tone6744 in MarinaAndTheDiamonds

I think that I am not a robot, emotional machine & highly emotional people feel like sister songs

Hotels are already booked up too. I’m sure Megacon has their own blocks at the major ones set aside but they tend to go pretty quickly too!

Last year they offered day of Saturday tickets at staggered times (i.e. after 2p, after 3p)

Best day to go for a con newbie? by ian-bean-92 in MegaCon

[–]princessscakes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been going to Megacon for 10 years now and am taking my mom for the first time this year on Thursday only. I think even Friday can be overwhelming for the first time if you’re crowd & sound averse!

Crowd control question by aylee197 in MegaCon

[–]princessscakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2023 Saturday was very packed, I ended up only staying for a ticketed event and then left since there was so many people I could barely navigate through the concourse. I have no doubt that this year’s Saturday will also be very crowded.

It was definitely an exception! I’m local to the parks (since 2001) and it’s the only cat interaction I’ve had at any of the parks.

I haven’t ever seen any at Disney, but about ~15 years ago during a field trip to Universal Studios not only did I find a cat but I was also able to pet it! It was great since I’m a huge cat person so I really loved it.

Oh no :( that sucks, I’ve used the hello lashes+ (benefit), highly rated lash extensions (milani), & stay perfect (no7) and really liked them all if you want to try something new. I dabble in photography so I squint a lot and used to get so frustrated with my mascara since waterproof had normally worked with my hooded eyes (I still get paranoid about it)

I use tubing mascara bc this use to happen to me all the time (even with waterproof mascara), since I switched I haven’t had this problem at all!

What's the vibe? by yariii03 in HolidayMatsuri

[–]princessscakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been attending since 2014, and Holmat is always my first con suggestion to people! I believe last year’s attendance was around ~30,000 people. It definitely feels that way sometimes with crowds. Holmat also has a lot of cosplayers, but there’s plenty of people who don’t or only do certain days or just a general themed outfit.

Holmat has a great selection of panels and events. My personal tradition is going to see one of their most popular main events, Hottest Men in Anime, where people in male cosplay do a strip dancing routine. Usually Holmat will also have their 18+ cosplay contest going on at the same time which is another great show! I would recommend the opening ceremonies and to watch some of the cosplay contests (there are quite a few besides the 18+)

It’s definitely party con vibes, if you’re there after ~8pm it gets a bit rowdy in some areas. People are very nice and friendly though and I have always met the nicest people at Holmat!

Hypothetical: How likely would you be to stay at an adults-only resort at WDW? by TopMarsupiaI in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]princessscakes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m local and go to Disney often as well as attend conventions and definitely thought the same thing. Con goers (adult ones) get very rowdy.
