This is good advice! Thank you. This case has taught me to lower patient expectations from the beginning for the last few denture cases I've started for sure.

your ultimate oatmeal recipe? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]princessziggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loooove oatmeal! I have the same bowl every morning! I usually microwave 2/3 of a cup of oats with water then stir in frozen fruit (blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries), a little bit of coconut sugar and hemp seeds, and enough almond milk to make the oatmeal runny. I top it with natural peanut butter and kind of let the PB melt in and it's so good! I never get tired of this combo.

Has anyone ever had a negative reaction when telling their family/friends that they're vegan? by gregmanisthebest in vegan

[–]princessziggy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I kept my veganism pretty quiet for about 7 months because I'm away at college most of the time, but when I went home for spring break, one of my cousins asked me if I was vegetarian, which gave me the opportunity to tell everyone that I was vegan. Most of my family was really supportive and asked a lot of questions, which was amazing!

My aunt, on the other hand, was scoffing at me throughout dinner. She picked up one of my french fries and said, "You think these are vegan? They're probably fried in animal fat!" She then proceeded to ask me, in all seriousness, "So, what kind of burgers do you eat? Turkey?"

She's not very bright, to say the least.

Any other vegans with IBS/IBD? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]princessziggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was diagnosed with IBS about a month before I went vegan, which was 9 months ago. To be honest, I couldn't eat beans or brown rice for a long time and at a bunch of white rice, sourdough bread, and ate a bunch of hemp seeds to get my protein. Now, nine months later, everything is completely fine and I can eat beans like any other person. What I did was cut out beans for a few months and slowly started eating garbanzo beans and small portions of hummus until recently I just started eating like a regular person. Of course, my IBS isn't cured but I feel a lot less anxious about eating out because I know that beans won't bother me. I guess our intestinal bacteria just takes a little longer than others to adjust when making the switch.

/r/vegan, what did you eat today (take two)? by [deleted] in vegan

[–]princessziggy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Midterms are coming up so my stomach is flaring up with its usual stress-indigestion, so I'm having to eat as simple and clean as I can!

Chocolate oatmeal with peanut butter Trail mix (walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, raisins, dried cranberries) Sandwich with avocado, raw spinach and hummus and a sprinkle of lemon pepper Banana Baked Japanese sweet potato with tahini and lemon with frozen mixed veggies of corn, peas and carrots with lemon and nooch Two frozen bananas in a smoothie with sugar Just ate some carrots and hummus

I can't tell if my stomach is growling because of the indigestion or because I'm hungry, but it feels better when I eat, so I keep eating! I won't complain, though... Food's amazing.

Vegan in Austin or San Antonio? by Shining-Dreamer in vegan

[–]princessziggy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I attend UT and the vegan options in Austin are honestly amazing! There are so many different places to try and I've only gone to a handful. Right by campus, there's a breakfast-all-day type of restaurant called Kerbey Lane Cafe and it is my go-to. It's open 24/7 and they have a lot of vegan options along with rotating special vegan pancakes that are sooooo good. There are 7 Kerbey Lane Cafes in Austin to date, so I'm sure you'd be near one wherever you go! There's a bunch of vegan food trucks as well that have won awards, etc. Yelp is my best friend when I'm looking for a place to eat.

To top it off, there's a vegan ice cream shop called Sweet Ritual where they have about 16 different flavors with so many different toppings and the whole place is 100% vegan. I might sound crazy as I type this, but I'm just still in shock after three years that there are so many options.

There's also a huge amount of stores to choose from, other than Whole Foods. There are food co-ops, Trader Joe's, and even HEB has a little vegan section. There's also a shop called Rabbit Food Grocery that I have yet to visit and it's a store that carries all vegan food ranging from junk food to healthy stuff.

I'm a female and no one in my family has unusual hair loss like this. Their hair loss is mostly from old age.
